As players progress through Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, they will reach the fourth dungeon, Ktisis Hyperboreia. The Ktisis Hyperboreia is a research facility studying a variety of environments and the wildlife who inhabit them. Accordingly, players will encounter different environments and face bosses who use elemental mechanics throughout the dungeon. The three bosses for this dungeon are Lyssa, Ladon Lord, and Hermes, Winged Defiance.

The Ktisis Hyperboreia dungeon is located in Elpis and is unlocked at level 87 during the main scenario quest Caging the Messenger. To unlock the quest, players will need to find the NPC at Hythlodaeus in Elpis (x:31.6, y:15.4). After speaking with the NPC to start this quest in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, players will be able to enter the dungeon.

Before players can challenge the first boss Lyssa, they will face a series of minor enemies. The most notable enemy is the Ktiseos Panthers, who will use a cone area of effect attack that players should spread out to minimize damage. When players face Lyssa, they will do so in a circular arena full of craters. Using the move Frostbite and Seek, Lyssa will summon a blizzard that will make her invisible except for her footprints. To avoid taking damage from her attack that hits most of the arena, players should follow the footprints and stand behind the boss. To recover from any damage, players should use their healers in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker to pull through.

With the move Icicall, Lyssa will summon a line area of effect attack. The move Frigid Stomp is a party-wide area of effect that players will need to heal through. Lyssa’s final move, Skull Dasher, will target the party’s tanks. Once Lyssa and her ice-based moves are defeated, players will face another series of minor enemies before confronting the second boss, Ladon Lord.

Ladon Lord is a three-headed boss who will open the battle with the move Scratch, which will attack the party’s tanks. Players should use defensive cooldowns to mitigate the damage. Using the move Inhale, the boss will soak up aether in one or two of his heads. Players should note which head is swollen with aether as the boss will cast the move Pyric Breath in the direction the swollen head is facing. For his final move in the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker dungeon, Ladon Lord will cast Summon Fireballs to create four fireballs, which deal line area of effect attacks.

After defeating Ladon Lord, players will face more minor enemies. Once these enemies are defeated, players will meet the third and final boss of Ktisis Hyperboreia, Hermes. Of note, he can manipulate wind and speed as well as duplicate spells. Hermes’s most brutal attack is Meteor, which summons four meteors in a cross pattern around the arena. Players should stack in the middle to mitigate the damage. This move is immediately followed by Hermetica, which causes line area of effect attacks from outside of the arena. Again, players should take advantage of the fallen meteors and hide behind them to avoid damage.

Hermes will also cast Double, which allows him to use his next move twice. He will typically use Double before casting True Aero or True Tornado. True Tornado will hit the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker party’s tanks, while True Aero will hit an area of effect in line with North, South, East, and West of the arena. Hermes may also cast Quadruple, which will cause the next spell to hit four times.
