Tucked inside Final Fantasy XIV‘s Lodestone, the game’s official community site, is an ever-growing library of device wallpapers. Over the years since A Realm Reborn‘s release, the Fan Kit gallery has also added new icons, ring tones, and other assets for fans of the game. The latest addition was at the end of December, with the 19 illustrations showcased during the countdown to FFXIV: Endwalker‘s release made available as wallpapers.

With Endwalker bringing an end to the game’s main story arc, browsing the Fan Kit’s wallpapers feels like a stroll down memory lane. Each expansion pack and other major patches have their own illustrations made available in a variety of resolutions, optimized for computer desktops, Android, and iPhone, and iPad. If someone is looking for their favorite character, monster, or job class, the giant list contains enough to make most everyone happy.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn wallpaper tabs have an assortment of illustrations that introduce Eorzea. There are lovely scenes depicting the housing districts of Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, and U’dah from a distance, giving a perspective that players don’t usually get to see in-game. The character wallpapers have the Scions of the Seventh Dawn in their earliest outfits, long since replaced with new attire. Some of the wallpapers that celebrate the game’s first anniversary after its resurrection in FFXIV‘s Patch 2.0 are particularly heartwarming. There are bottles of Realm Reborn Red wine, the adults toast with champaign, and Tataru, among others, is having a blast.

Final Fantasy XIV Official Background Wallpapers: Celebrating Pixel Scions

One of the most charming FFXIV wallpapers features the game’s main cast of NPCs, ranging from the Scions, Grand Company leaders, and even the first three Primals the Warrior of Light battled: the Final Fantasy summons Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda. Everyone is stylized with pixel art and framed with a blue, white-bordered background as they partake in pixellated beverages. There are several wallpapers featuring this old-school pixel art, harkening back to the earliest days of the Final Fantasy series.

FFXIV Official Background Wallpapers: Binding Coil Of Bahamut

A Realm Reborn‘s Patch 2.2 brought FFXIV‘s Second Coil of Bahamut in addition to introducing the Primal Leviathan. There are many wallpapers that feature Bahamut, but the ones featuring the inside of Dalamud are striking. One has blue and orange colors, with a Summoner bringing forth Ifrit-Egi alongside a Bard, Black Mage, and other members of their raid party. The light from Bahamut is so bright that they become contrasting silhouettes.

FFXIV Official Background Wallpapers: Word Of The Mother Minfilia & Hydaelyn

The FFXIV: Heavensward expansion added Astrologian and Dark Knight, and there are several wallpapers showing the jobs off. Heavensward also made Au Ra playable characters, and its corresponding Fan Kit tab has some of the first art that featured the race, in addition to illustrations with plenty of dragoons and dragons. The Gears of Change was FFXIV‘s post-Heavensward Patch 3.2, and its story events set the stage for the First shard and Shadowbringers. Its patch artwork is one of the most gorgeous official illustrations.

When the Sultana of Ul’dah was thought murdered and the Scions fled the city, Minfilia was swept up in Y’shtola’s Flow spell to meet Hydaelyn in the aetherial sea. At this point, Minfilia essentially gave her entire being to Final Fantasy XIV‘s Hydaelyn to become the Word of the Mother. The art featured on the wallpapers is beautiful and melancholy, with Minfilia bound and crystalizing to pale blue as she joins with Hydaelyn. The colors are pale and pleasant and wouldn’t be too distracting of a background, as long as the user doesn’t start grieving Minfilia’s loss.

FFXIV Desktop & Smartphone Wallpapers: Rainbow Au Ra Monk & Coeurl

Endwalker‘s series of countdown illustrations was not the first that Final Fantasy XIV had done. Each expansion pack has several unique images by a variety of artists and in different styles, and their unique takes are all interesting to look at. One Stormblood countdown image, number 15, features an Au Ra Monk alongside a Coeurl and Coeurl Kitten.

She sits on a pile of adventurers’ spoils and shows off her Final Fantasy XIV Monk Job Soul Crystal. This wallpaper is particularly colorful and vibrant, and as a background would make a nice, encouraging energy boost. Alternatively, a cycling desktop background could present a slideshow of all of the countdown images, rather than just one. There are also a few wallpapers that showcase the expansion’s new Jobs, Samurai and Red Mage.

Final Fantasy XIV Smartphone & Desktop Wallpapers: Mysterious Crystal Exarch

All of FFXIV: Shadowbringers’ wallpapers feel a bit more muted in color compared to the expansions before it, but it makes them no less attractive. Fans of YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse, the NieR: Automata crossover raid, can choose a wallpaper that features 2P. The Reflections in Crystal patch artwork features the Crystal Exarch in shadow, holding a glowing crystal. The illustration has excellent details and deep shadows, and the wallpaper features a nice chunk of blank space for desktop or app icons.

FFXIV: Endwalker released December 7 and just added its countdown illustrations to the Fan Kit. These also have a good amount of neutral space to organize icons, if clutter is a concern. Before this addition, there were only two under the Endwalker tab, but now there are 21 wallpapers in its section alone.

Final Fantasy XIV Official Desktop Wallpapers: The Journey Never Ends

Each countdown illustration is of a different job class, so there’s one for every player. One of the main illustrations used to advertise Endwalker makes one of the prettiest wallpapers available: a Viera Paladin looks up and shields their face, looking wistful in the light, with the words “the journey never ends.” The colors reflect a blue sky and their armor is vividly detailed.

The Fan Kit for Final Fantasy XIV’s Endwalker expansion has tons of great assets to choose from to decorate devices or social media profiles. There are easily over a hundred wallpapers alone, and they’re downloadable in a variety of resolutions for convenience. Every time the Fan Kit is updated, it’s mentioned on the Lodestone’s front page updates. If a Final Fantasy XIV player hasn’t used the Lodestone much before, they may want to consider checking in occasionally for more excellent wallpaper options.
