Final Fantasy XIV: Where to Find Berkanan Sap (& What It’s For)

Berkanan Sap is a basic crafting ingredient in Final Fantasy Endwalker. While it isn’t very important itself, the sap is a component in the more rare line of tincture potions. Created by members of the Alchemist class, tincture will likely be used to make high-level equipment useful for upcoming savage raids.

Because of this supply chain, Berkanan Sap will be a hot commodity for those looking to make tinctures themselves. Alchemist players will want lots of sap to save money and time, and non-crafters can instead sell Berkanan Sap on the market boards for some extra Gil.

While Berkanan Sap is found and earned during FFXIV Endwalker, it uses the older Bicolor Gemstone currency introduced in Shadowbringers. Just like the hunt mark system in FFXIV Endwalker, players can get a head start by leveling up from 70 to 80. This can include either their first time through the story or from training an alternate job.

Acquiring Berkanan Sap in Final Fantasy XIV

Berkanan are a monster type roaming around Labyrinthos’ Central Circuit district in Final Fantasy XIV. They are the same family as Leshy, the tree enemies found mostly within Stormblood zones near Ala Mhigo. They will both drop Berkanan Sap if defeated, or by sending out one’s combat role Retainer through venture Hunting Exploration XXVII. However, as this can take some time it is better to gain the item through other methods.

Shared FATE

One option to gain Berkanan Sap is to pay for it with Bicolor Gemstones. These can be earned by completing at least six FATEs in a single zone within Shadowbringers or Endwalker. This can include any of the following areas:

• Lakeland
• Amh Araeng
• Il Mheg
• Kholusia
• The Rak’tika Greatwood
• The Tempest
• Labyrinthos
• Thavnair
• Garlemald
• Mare Lamentorrum
• Elpis
• Ultima Thule

Once gems are unlocked as a feature in FFXIV, they will drop from any FATE in the above areas, even if it is less than the six for a specific area. They are sold by Gadfrid in Old Sharylayan, Faezboroes in Labyrinthos, and Sajareen in Radz-at-Han. The price is always two Bicolor Gemstones regardless of the merchant.

Endwalker Leves

Berkanan Sap is also a possible reward from two high-level quests in Endwalker. This includes Mindful Study and Technically Still Magic, both of which are level 88 Alchemist leves gained from the clerk Ahldiyrn. The Berkanan Sap prize is random, with players possibly getting one, two, or none for their time.

Using Berkanan Sap in Final Fantasy XIV

Berkanan Sap is an important crafting ingredient in Final Fantasy XIV used by Alchemists and Culinarians. The recipes start at level 88, so it may be a good idea to hold on to sap until it is needed. The possible creations include:
