Fire Emblem Heroes reveals a new PvP mode that will debut alongside the next book in the game, book six. Fire Emblem Heroes has had a variety of PvP modes against computer units from other players, but this will be the first mode that allows players to battle directly.

Book five of Fire Emblem Heroes took players to the steampunk world of Nidavellir, where characters fought in horse-like battle mechs. The free character of that story, Reginn, was a valuable hero to many players. Fire Emblem Heroes has had a variety of locales in the various books, from the fire and ice kingdoms of Muspell and Nifl to the land of death, Hel. With new books come new and rare Fire Emblem Heroes units throughout the year, and each book gives a free five-star hero to players upon completing the first chapter.

Nintendo Mobile’s latest FEH Channel showcased a variety of new features to be released in Fire Emblem Heroes along with book six. One of the most prominent additions is a new PVP mode called Summoner Duels, in which players will be able to battle each other using five heroes to earn a higher score than the opponent. There are different types of duels players can do, such as Favor Battles, which have players’ favor level increase based on the scores they earned. Meanwhile, Practice Duels allows players to practice their team composition against AI opponents, and Free Duels allows players to battle their friends using a password. Summoner Duels will be released along with book six on December 6th at 11pm PST.

In addition to the release of book six, a new banner of Fire Emblem heroes from Fire Emblem Awakening will release. This includes Priam, Basilo, and Flavia, with Miriel and Yen’fay releasing separately. The mythic hero Ash will also be on the banner, who will also be the free unit players will be able to obtain by completing chapter one of book six on normal difficulty. Book six in question centers around Embla and will have a greater focus on Veronica, and all players will be given a new castle theme based on Embla.

2022 is sure to be an interesting year for Fire Emblem Heroes. January 2021 had the game’s fifth choose your legends event in which characters such as Marth and the Gatekeeper from Fire Emblem: Three Houses win that contest and got special versions of themselves in the game. More modes will also likely be introduced into the game over time. Fire Emblem Heroes getting into PvP is new territory for the game, and though the meta for it is constantly changing, if nothing else, this allows players to freely battle each other and test their heroes against one another, which players will be able to do when book 6 is released in Fire Emblem Heroes on December 6th.

Fire Emblem Heroes is available now on mobile devices.
