During a recent interview, Steel Wool Studios developers revealed planning has begun for Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach DLC, which could feature Dreadbear. Unlike previous FNAF adventures, Security Breach is set across a single night in a mall, a shop of horrors bathed in neon lights and pretty window dressings.

Developer Steel Wool Studios led production on the project, which was first teased in August 2019 on the franchise’s fifth anniversary. Steel Wool and publisher ScottGames intended to deploy the thirteenth entry in 2020. That launch window was delayed to early 2021, then pushed once again to Security Breach’s December 2021 due date. As many players can attest, the various bugs plaguing the final product illustrate why the new Five Nights at Freddy’s title received multiple release date revisions. The studio remains hard at work on ironing out lingering issues, though, and hopes to address Security Breach’s bug and performance troubles in a future update. Interestingly enough, other plans for the future include new content of some kind.

In an interview with YouTuber Dawko, FNAF: Security Breach’s Executive Producer, Ray McCaffrey, divulged that while nothing is set in stone as of yet, the team at Steel Wool Studios does plan on developing post-launch DLC. “That is something we’re talking about right now,” he teased before noting that series creator Scott Cawthon is collaborating with the crew on various ideas. McCaffrey also hinted the “positive response” to Dreadbear could result in that character’s reappearance in potential DLC for FNAF: Security Breach. The Executive Producer talks downloadable content around the 20:30 mark in the video linked below:

Given that FNAF: Security Breach released only a couple of weeks ago, it seems safe to assume that Steel Wool’s plans for DLC and Dreadbear will remain under lock and key for a little while longer. Plus, as McCaffrey mentioned, nothing concrete has been decided as of yet, though he did say that information should begin to surface sometime in 2022.

While downloadable content no doubt counts as an important next step for Steel Wool, the team has much of its present focus centered on bug fixes and the like. It remains to be seen if addressing such issues will result in the studio internally delaying DLC-related production plans.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach is out now on PC, PS4, and PS5 platforms.
