With every new season of Fortnitecomes its own wacky editions that change how the game is played. In the past players have seen Epic Games add anything from zombies to hamster balls with suction cups to the Battle Island, and Chapter 2 Season 2 is no different. No new vehicles or rocks that make you turn into a ghost were added this season, but what was added has changed the way the game is played for everyone.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 has added human NPCs to the game in the form of either a lowly Henchman or a powerhouse of a boss. These NPCs can be found around the map at fixed locations, and upon elimination can drop a bunch of goodies. These NPCs can also be used to unlock certain chests and doorways, and players can even dress up at henchmen to fool their opponents.

What are Bosses in Fortnite

Bosses were added in Season 2, but don’t get them confused with bosses like the Storm King from Fortnite Season X. With Season 2 taking on the theme of Secret Agents, bosses are more like mob bosses than they are giant terrifying monsters.

Bosses have increased health with more than 100 shield and 100 health so they are a little tougher to take down than normal enemies. They don’t build so you won’t have to worry about them taking cover. However, they deal an insane amount of damage, have incredibly precise aim, and can see through some objects to pinpoint a player’s location.

Each boss takes the form of one of the Battle Pass skins from this season and each one has its own unique “Mythical” weapon that they will use against you and drop. These weapons can only be obtained from their respective bosses and there is only one of each per game. Bosses can also always be found at their fixed locations. There are five new POIs introduced in Season 2, and each of these locations houses a boss along with a slew of henchmen.

Boss Locations and Loot in Fortnite

As mentioned before, Bosses each have their own specific location on the map, and each one has its own specific loot that they drop. Here is a list of each boss, where they can be found, and what they drop upon elimination.

Midas (this season’s tier 100 skin) can be found roaming the halls of The Agency which is located in the center of the map. He carries around the mythical Midas’ Tommy Gun. His gun shoots incredibly fast, has a magazine that holds 40 medium rounds and does a ton of damage.

Brutus can be found in the innards of The Grotto which is located on the right middle side of Battle Island. The muscle-man fittingly carries around Brutus’ Mini-gun which is a mythical version of the mini-gun that shreds through builds and players alike.

Meowscles the feline body-builder can be found aboard The Yacht which is located in the top right corner of the map. He totes the infamous Meowscles’ Peow Peow Rifle which is an incredibly deadly mythical assault rifle.

Skye the team’s edgy teen can be found at The Shark which is located north of Sweaty Sands. She wields two mythical weapons the first being Skye’s Assault Rifle which isn’t anything more than a better gold AR. She also carries with her the Grappler Gun which is a unique mobility weapon that allows plays to sling themselves around the map. The Grappler gun is unique in that it never runs out of uses. Instead, it recharges after it has been used

TNTina is presumably the team’s obligatory explosives expert that can be found about The Rig which sounds like a horrible combo. Especially since TNTina wields the mythical explosive weapons TNTina’s Kaboom Bow. When wielded by TNTina the bow seems quite deadly, but when used by a player it can be underwhelming. The bows blast radius is small, it explodes on impact, and a direct shot to a player only does 100 damage. Not to mention a player has to charge up a shot before firing. Luckily, the Kaboom Bow is much like the Grapper Gun because it has five shots initially that recharge over time so a player never runs out of explosive tipped arrows.

What are Henchmen in Fortnite

In addition to bosses, Fortnite Season 2 added other NPCs called Henchmen. Henchmen are much more like Season 1 bots than bosses, but can still be pretty dangerous. Unlike bots, Henchmen aren’t programmed to let the player win. Their aim is much better, they spawn in with 100 shield and 100 health, and they are equipped with some pretty good weapons.

Henchmen, like bosses, have fixed locations where they spawn but unlike bosses, they can be found around the map outside of the new POIs. They do not roam the map but instead spawn near secret bases.

Henchmen are also different from bots as they are not aggroed to players once a player enters a certain radius around a henchman. Instead, Henchmen have to see or hear a player long enough for them to become aware of your presence. Again, playing off of this season’s theme, sneaking around henchmen or eliminating them from behind adds a spy element to the game.

Upon eliminating a henchman they will drop their loadout. If a henchman is near another henchman when they spot you, they will alert surrounding henchmen to your presence.

Eliminating henchmen can be a quick way for players to gain a decent loadout, but dressing as one can make it even easier.

Henchmen Disguise in Fortnite

Another addition to Fortnite Season 2 is the ability for players to disguise themselves as henchmen. This allows players to blend in with other henchmen and slip past turrets and cameras. It also allows players to open locked doors and henchmen chests.

In order to don a henchmen costume, a player must first locate a red telephone booth. One of these can be found around each new POI as well as at secret bases around the map. Once a player jumps inside they will come out dressed as a henchman. A player will wear this outfit until they take damage or shoot a gun.

The new POIs and some secret bases are littered with security cameras that will alert all surrounding henchmen to your presence if you are spotted. The cameras can easily be taken out with a pickaxe or gun, but that would give away a player’s location. Wearing the disguise will allow players to walk past cameras without drawing any attention to themselves. The same is true for turrets.

Wearing a disguise also allows players to walk around henchmen without attracting attention. Regardless of what flashy back bling you are wearing, Henchmen and Bosses will not know the difference. This makes navigating the new POIs a breeze without having to deal with henchmen shooting at you.

And lastly, wearing the costume allows players to open henchmen’s chests. These are chests that scan the player and only open if they are carrying a downed henchman or if they are dressed like a henchman. These chests are like legendary chests as they drop purple and gold tier loot. They are also only found at the new POIs or secret basses.

Carrying and Shaking Down Henchmen

While henchmen can offer players a quick weapon upgrade when eliminated, they can also offer players a wealth of knowledge and can act as handy lock picks. Instead of eliminating downed henchmen right away, players can use them to their advantage.

Another new feature added this season is the ability to shakedown knocked players which can also be done to henchmen. After a player knocks a henchman they can approach them and shake them down revealing a handheld device that looks very similar to a Nintendo Switch. After a few seconds, a player screen will be lit up with red and white icons indicating where other henchmen, bosses, floor loot, and chest spawns are.

Red arrows indicate other henchmen. A red crown indicated the boss. And a white chest indicates where floor loot or chests have spawned. This is helped for finding a gun to quickly pick up or for finding the boss quickly.

Henchmen can also be carried just like downed players and this can be more helpful than you might think. If you are not in a disguise but still need to open a locked doorway or chest, carry a henchman to the scanner and when scanning your character will hold the body of the henchmen in front of them to be scanned instead.

And that is all there is to know about henchmen and bosses in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2
