Season 6 of Fortnite is finally here, and as always it has a lot of new features for players to discover. The most game-changing update from Fortnite Season 6 so far is the addition of crafting which allows players to make equipment and upgrade their weapons. However, Fortnite doesn’t explicitly tell players how to use its crafting system.

Each new season of Fortnite adds a game-changing mechanic that players have to adapt their playstyle to and that adds another layer to the robust battle royale experience. Season 5 populated the map with friendly NPCs that radically altered how Fortnite is played, and Season 6 builds on that feeling of survival by adding a simple crafting system. The crafting isn’t as complex as Minecraft or Rust, but it still requires players to learn about their new surroundings in order to use it properly. Here is how players can craft items in Fortnite Season 6.

Crafting Items In Fortnite Season 6

Unlike upgrading weapons with Fortnite’s workbench, players don’t have to visit any special station in-game to start crafting. That’s because the crafting menu is built into the player’s inventory. To start crafting, all the players need to do is open their inventory and switch over to the crafting tab. Here they can select an item from their hot bar as well as what they would like to craft with it. The components required are also listed as well as the number the player currently has. Once a player has selected what they wish to craft they will close out of the menu and a time will count down until the item is crafted. The player cannot move while crafting or else the craft will be canceled.

Some crafting recipes are as simple as collecting grenades and a bow while others require a bit more work. New items such as Animal Bones and Mechanical Parts have been added which players will need to collect to craft more powerful weapons. These items don’t carry over from match to match as gold bars do, but they aren’t too difficult to come by. Animal Bones can be collected after killing wild animals, and Mechanical Parts are found by destroying vehicles. Additionally, players can buy both of these from certain NPCs around the map using gold bars.

Fortnite is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android.
