According to leaked patch-related information for Fortnite, fan-favorite Assassin’s Creed hero Ezio Auditore da Firenze will eventually appear in the battle royale game. It was only a matter of time before members of the Assassin’s Order entered the mix, given the sheer number of video game characters that already appear in the ever-popular Epic Games experience.

In the last couple of years alone, the likes of Kratos, Master Chief, and Lara Croft have joined the Fortnite roster. Meanwhile, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine of Resident Evil fame hit the Island last fall, with Uncharted’s Nathan Drake and Chloe Frazer recently coming on board in the wake of the movie release. Each guest character fits the Fortnite mold in their own way, bringing something unique to the table that further elevates the already exciting moment-to-moment gameplay loop. How long can Epic Games reliably keep up this momentum? That much remains a mystery for the time being. But the studio shows no sign of slowing down. If anything, many lapsed players may reenter the fray if leaked details about an upcoming patch prove accurate.

A post from Fortnite Central (via Fortnite News) regarding leaked patch information reveals that Assassin’s Creed protagonist Ezio Auditore may soon make his way to Fortnite. Apparently, the Assassin will come packed with his classic AC2 robes, an Assassin’s Strike built-in emote, and hidden blades that act as pickaxes. Subsequent Twitter posts from Fortnite News also offer a closer look at the Ezio character model, with one image, in particular, showing the Assassin with his hood removed. Check it out in the tweets linked below:

Ezio Auditore’s apparently forthcoming introduction to Fortnite isn’t happening in a vacuum. While the Italian Renaissance-era protagonist no longer sits at the forefront of the Assassin’s Creed series, Ubisoft recently brought him back to the spotlight by unleashing The Ezio Collection on Nintendo Switch last month. The remastered compilation includes Assassin’s Creed 2, Brotherhood, Revelations, and their respective DLC offerings.

Fortnite is currently in the first season of its Chapter 3 content, which launched late last year in December. The new chapter unlocked access to a brand-new map, fresh gameplay mechanics, and characters such as Spider-Man. Now players patiently await the advent of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2, a major update that should go live shortly after Season 1 comes to a close in a few short weeks on March 19. What exactly Epic has planned for the next season presently remains unknown.

Fortnite is playable across all platforms.
