Recent Fortnite leaks and rumors suggest that the game will be adding drivable tanks in one of the future updates. This new portion of information arrives hot on the heels of another leak that suggested a possible Uncharted crossover in the coming weeks to coincide with the movie adaptation of the game series.

According to a leak, a Fortnite x Uncharted movie crossover is possible since there’s a very specific challenge that arrives in the battle royale game on February 17. Its description reads, “Collect Treasure using an Uncharted Treasure Map,” which is highly suspicious considering the perfect timing for such a quest. The aforementioned Uncharted movie releases the next day, on February 18, adding weight to the rumor.

According to a well-known Fortnite insider Hypex on Twitter, Epic’s popular battle royale game might soon be enriched with drivable tanks for players to organize absolute mayhem. The current leak states that the developer is working on an armored vehicle allegedly codenamed “TreadVehicle” for the time being. According to the Fortnite leaker Hypex, the vehicle is a two-seater, which can be used by a driver with a passenger. There’s no other information regarding the potential appearance of a tank in Fortnite. However, the insider cautiously assumes that the vehicle in question might be a drivable variant of IO drills since they too have treads instead of wheels. Considering there’re several such machines scattered across Battle Island, it makes sense.

Fortnite is no stranger to weird vehicles for players to drive around, although there haven’t been any noteworthy additions since the introduction of a drivable transparent ball a few years ago. The bizarre Fortnite hamster ball was a single-seater allowing a lonely gamer to easily cover long distances. Equipped with a plunger launcher, the machine allowed for mind-blowing tricks greatly enriching Fortnite’s signature chaotic gameplay.

The recent revelation by Hypex sounds quite exciting, even though Fortnite players might receive an armored driller instead of a proper tank. It is worth noting that the leaked machine is not referenced in Epic’s files as a tank, which might also suggest that players will soon be able to drive the IO drills across the Battle island. It’d be too much of an assumption to think that Epic could introduce the actual mechanics of drilling the ground to Fortnite, though. But the sole idea of an even more dynamic environment in the game is indeed enticing. At the very least, the existing drill sites could be used as exit and entrance points, allowing for some sort of a fast-travel feature.

Fortnite is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, and PC.
