Details found through Xbox Insider Hub suggest Forza Horizon 5 may soon receive its first major post-launch DLC release. Forza Horizon 5 counted among 2021’s highest-rated games, boasting a Metacritic score of 92. Many consider the experience a return to form for both the long-running series and the racing genre in general; thus, hopes for developer Playground Games’ post-launch support plans are pretty high.

Forza as Xbox’s premier racing franchise hit the scene in 2005 with the release of Forza Motorsport from developer Turn 10 Studios. Notably, the Motorsport line of Forza titles focuses heavily on professional racing. It hardly came as a surprise, then, when Xbox published Playground Games’ Forza Horizon spinoff in the fall of 2012, offering a much more laid-back experience and introducing the brand to open-world gameplay for the first time. Natuarlly, the successful spinoff morphed into a series of its own, with its latest entry proving the most critically acclaimed yet. Forza Horizon 5’s multiple 2021 Game Awards wins and other accolades indicate many would be pleased to receive even more of the title’s quality content offerings.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

As noted by GamingBolt, Twitter user and Italian blogger Aggiornamenti Lumia recently shared information regarding Xbox Insider Hub testing for what is presumably Forza Horizon 5. Apparently, Microsoft’s Xbox Insider testing program has something filed as “WOODSTOCK_DLC_FLIGHT” presently undergoing user-based testing. Since “Woodstock” denotes the internal codename for Forza Horizon 5, it seems safe to assume that DLC for the award-winning racer could go live sometime in the near future. The post from Aggiornamenti Lumia reads as follows:

It’s worth noting that Forza Horizon 4 received its final batch of DLC in 2021 with the advent of the Hot Wheels Legends car pack. Since the fourth Forza Horizon game originally hit store shelves in 2018, history suggests Playground Games’ plans for the fifth title will mirror its post-launch support of Forza Horizon 4. Said support included a dozen car packs, two separate expansions, and more.

Forza Horizon 5 launched late last year with more than 500 cars available to players on day one. Fans have plenty of ways with which to test drive these vehicles as well, thanks to the title featuring the largest open-world setting in series history. Features such as extreme weather conditions and dynamic seasons keep the moment-to-moment gameplay interesting as well, with the former throwing events like heavy rainfall and sandstorms into the mix from time to time. Whatever DLC Playground Games may have up its sleeve will likely switch up the excitement even further.

Forza Horizon 5 is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
