Plenty of horror movies premiere each year Freaky  stands out because it manages to combine comedy and horror. The story about a serial killer who switches bodies with a high-school student has a lot to offer: both funny scenes, as well as scary ones.

Even though the film focuses on the two main characters, it works with plenty of other heroes – some of them are good guys, others not so much. Not all of them can be on the same level, so some Freaky characters are simply smarter than others.

10 Millie’s Classmates

One of the most impressive killing scenes takes place when Millie deals with a group of three classmates who wanted to sexually assault her at a party. Since the Butcher is already in Millie’s body, he kills all of the boys in a short period of time. Considering their reaction and the fact that didn’t even try to properly run when Millie attacked the first of them, it’s safe to assume they weren’t the smartest people out there.

9 Coral Kessler

Even though Millie’s mom means well, she’s not the brightest person in the film – or the best parent. She struggles with connecting to her daughters, both Millie and her older daughter Charlene. She sees it appropriate to confide in a total stranger in a shop she works in. And she also succumbs to drinking. All in all, her daughters are much smarter people than she is.

8 Mr. Bernardi

Mr. Bernardi is Millie’s unsympathetic teacher who likes to humiliate Millie in front of her classmates. As a result, Millie/Butcher decides to kill him, and she attacks him in the class when there’s no-one else present. Mr. Bernardi is smart enough to be able to defend himself for a while but Millie defeats him and kills him in the end even though she’s physically weaker than him.

7 Ryler

A lot of films focused on teenage characters have a mean girl who bullies the main character. In Freaky, this pretty girl is Ryler who torments and laughs at Millie.

Ryler gets her due when Millie/Butcher lures her into a secluded location, presumably to share details about Butcher’s attack at her. Ryler goes willingly, and she signs her death sentence this way since Millie kills her shortly afterward.

6 Josh Detmer

One of Millie’s two best friends, Josh Detmer, joins her side when he discovers that it’s Millie in the Blissfield Butcher’s body. Josh tries his best to help but he sometimes does more harm than good – most notably when he apprehends and ties the Butcher in Millie’s body in his home, but is later unable to explain Millie’s presence to his mom who unexpectedly returns home earlier.

5 Nyla Chones

Nyla is very young but she keeps her cool most of the time and tries to help Millie the best she can. She has the right instincts – when she first sees the Blissfield Butcher, she automatically attacks him and defends herself, without realizing it’s Millie. Nyla seems like a good friend who helps out others when they’re in need, and she’s quick on her feet.

4 Booker Strode

Booker is the boy Millie likes even though she does her best to hide her feelings since she believes Booker doesn’t see her the same way. Unlike Millie’s friend, Booker is quick to believe she’s telling the truth about the body switch – thanks to the love poem Millie wrote to him in secret that she recites to him.

Booker helps Millie and, more importantly, gives her some good advice, unexpectedly wise for someone so young.

3 Char Kessler

Overall, Millie’s older sister Charlene is one of the smarter characters in the film. She’s worked hard to become a police officer even at her young age, and she seems good at her job. She’s critical toward her mom and wants her to do better. Charlene’s biggest mistake is that she doesn’t believe Millie when she tells her about the body switch – but to be fair to Charlene, it’s somewhat difficult to believe.

2 Blissfield Butcher

The Blissfield Butcher is a mysterious serial killer killing young people all around the city. As a result, he became something of an urban myth. He uses this reputation to strike fear into the hearts of the people he’s after. Butcher (played by Vince Vaughn) is clever enough to evade being captured by the police. And even when they find him, he manages to fake his own death and escapes. However, he makes the fatal mistake of underestimating Millie who kills him in the end.

1 Millie Kessler

Freaky‘s final girl Millie hasn’t had an easy life. Her mom heavily drinks to cope with her grief and her classmates laugh at her and bully her. That doesn’t stop her from making the best of the situation she’s in. She has a few good friends and a boy she likes. Millie might not be a genius but she’s able to figure out how to stop the Blissfield Butcher nevertheless – even though she needs the help of her friends to do it.
