Will there be a third season of Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country or has the show been cancelled? Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country is a spinoff spawned by Esquire Network’s football-focused reality docuseries Friday Night Tykes which takes a deep dive into the uber-competitive world of the Texas Youth Football Association, and follows the antics of its young players and their often over-zealous parents and coaches on and off the field.

Like its parent show, Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country is set in the cut-throat world of youth football but moves the action to the former rust belt of western Pennsylvania – a football hotbed that has produced NFL stars like New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis and Pro Football Hall Of Fame member Mike Ditka. The first season of Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country aired on Esquire Network in 2016 and focused on the 10 to 11-year-old players of the Beaver County Youth Football League’s Mitey Mites division. The show received a nomination for Outstanding Serialized Sports Documentary at the 38th Annual Sports Emmy Awards and was soon renewed for a second season, which premiered in 2017 and focused on the Beaver County Youth Football League’s 12 and 13-year-old Midgets division.

Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country Moved From Esquire To USA Network

Cable TV channel Esquire Network was the original home of both Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country and its parent show. Unfortunately, Esquire Network suffered a decline in carriage agreements with other networks which saw the channel lose around 25% of its subscribers and ultimately resulted in parent company NBCUniversal deciding to shutter the network.

Esquire Network renewed Friday Nights Tykes: Steel Country shortly before it ceased operations but luckily parent company NBCUniversal transferred the documentary show over to its sibling channel USA Network which is where its sophomore season aired.

Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country Season 3 Probably Isn’t Happening

Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country may have transferred over to USA Network, but it doesn’t look like the sports docuseries has a future with the channel. Taking into consideration the fact that it’s been four years since the second season of Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country aired, it doesn’t seem like USA Network intends to renew the show for a third outing.
