Slasher classic Friday the 13th Part 6 will screen at the original location where the movie was shot, with Tommy Jarvis actor Thom Mathews in attendance. Horror icon Jason Voorhees made his memorable screen debut in 1980 in the shocking final shot of the original Friday the 13th.

Of course it wasn’t until the second Friday the 13th movie in 1981 that Jason actually became the budding series’ central antagonist, and he didn’t get his iconic hockey mask until the third movie, which came out in 1982. Jason’s rampage was then supposed to end with 1984’s Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, but while horror villains may occasionally be killed, money-making horror franchises never die. 1985’s Friday the 13th: A New Beginning proved to be a flop with fans however, as it interestingly brought back Tommy Jarvis from The Final Chapter, but ill-advisedly introduced a new killer masquerading as Jason. Paramount got it right though with 1986’s Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, which properly resurrected Jason Voorhees and actually made him more powerful than ever.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Today in fact the Jason-reviving Friday the 13th Part VI is widely regarded as one of the better entries in the entire series. Slasher fans will now get a chance to revisit the horror classic in a very unique setting, as Myers House NC’s On Set Cinema is set to screen the movie in the very same park where it was largely shot. As an extra treat, Tommy Jarvis actor Mathews will be in attendance, marking his first time back on the location in 36 years. The event is set for July 1-3 and July 3-5, 2022 at Hard Labor Creek State Park in Rutledge, Georgia. Tickets can be purchased directly from Myers House NC.

According to The Myers House NC, fans who attend the event will “be able to see where Sheriff Mike Garris gets bent completely in half by Jason, walk on the pier where Officer Thornton gets a dart to the forehead, hang out in the cabin where Sissy gets snatched out of the window and her head twisted off and swim in the actual lake where Tommy fights Jason during the movies’ climatic ending!” In addition to the featured Friday the 13th Part 6 screening alongside the lake, there will also be camping and camping-related activities, along with “watching VHS horror movies on tube TVs” for that super-nostalgic ‘80s experience.

All-in-all this Friday the 13th Part 6package sounds like a great experience for fans who like mixing their horror movie viewing with a taste of the great outdoors (but hopefully no real serial killings). And there’s the extra bonus of getting to meet the man who played Tommy Jarvis in arguably the best of all the Friday the 13th movies.
