Season 5 of Friends marked the halfway point of the show. And back when it first premiered in September of 1998, it followed the aftermath of the Season 4 finale. Ross had just committed the horrible mistake of calling Emily by Rachel’s name at the altar, to everyone’s shock, and Monica and Chandler ended up sleeping together after a drunken night.

The fans were anxious to know what would happen next. Would Rachel and Ross find their way back to each other? Would Monica and Chandler actually become a couple? The answer to these questions was sure to follow, and an amazing season once again delighted fans and audiences all over the world, with some of the best episodes Friends had provided up to that point.

10 The One in Vegas: Part 1 (8.8)

Let’s start from the bottom, shall we? The second to last episode of the fifth season saw the gang flocking to Las Vegas in order to visit Joey, who later admits he’s working at the casino while he waits for the film to be greenlit again after lacking funds.

After Ross misunderstands a move done by Rachel, the two go on a rampage in order to embarrass each other to the limit. Meantime, Chandler is hurt and angry when he finds out Monica had lunch with her ex-boyfriend, Richard.

9 The One with the Kips (8.8)

Chandler and Monica make up an excuse so they can go away for the weekend together. What was supposed to be a romantic getaway quickly escalates as the two spend the entire time fighting. And even though everything turns out to be okay, Joey ends up finding out the two of them are a thing and is sworn to secrecy.

In the meantime, Ross tells Rachel that Emily is coming to New York and they can’t see each other anymore, leaving her devastated on top of already being heartbroken over the news that her childhood pet died.

8 The One Hundredth (8.8)

One hundred episodes into the show, Phoebe is rushed to the hospital when it seems like the twins are coming a little earlier than expected, and the audience finally got to see three beautiful babies joining the extended family.

When Chandler panics and implies to Monica that they’re nothing serious and are just having fun, she threatens to go out with a hot male nurse, prompting Chandler to have to confront the extent of his feelings for her.

7 The One After Ross Says Rachel (8.9)

The first episode of season 5 opened up after Chandler and Monica slept together and Ross said the wrong name during the wedding ceremony. This prompts Emily to run away and Ross tries to find her.

Just when Ross and Rachel are about to embark on a plane to Athens together, Emily shows up, and Ross makes the decision to go after her and fix the marriage.

6 The One with All the Kissing (9.0)

During the second episode of season 5, Chandler and Monica have to find a way to cover for the fact that they were caught kissing. This little incident prompts Chandler to go around kissing everyone, in one of the most hilarious cover-ups in history.

After coming back from Greece, Rachel ends up admitting to Ross that she still loves him, even though he is desperately trying to contact Emily. Once again, these two can’t seem to figure it out once and for all.

5 The One in Vegas: Part 2 (9.1)

The season finale was jam-packed with events that no one really saw coming. Monica and Chandler make up after she apologizes, and they decide to get married if they win big at the casino.

Well, when the time comes for them to enter the chapel, a very drunk couple comes out…and it’s Ross and Rachel! Once again, the season ends in a cliffhanger when these two find out they got married while completely wasted. Vegas, baby!

4 The One with All the Resolutions (9.1)

New Year’s Eve is finally here, and it’s time for the gang to make and share their resolutions with each other. Ross decides to be happy and somehow ends up wearing a pair of hilarious leather pants.

Phoebe is to teach Joey how to play the guitar, Rachel decides to stop gossiping, Chandler will stop making jokes and Monica wants to take more pictures. Obviously, none of these resolutions last.

3 The One with Ross’s Sandwich (9.1)

When Ross finds out his boss ate his sandwich at work, he goes on a rage-filled tirade that results in him being put on sabbatical and having to talk to a psychiatrist for anger management.

In the meantime, Joey struggles increasingly more with having to keep Chandler and Monica’s secret, and Rachel, Phoebe, and Monica enroll in a literature class.

2 The One with All the Thanksgivings (9.2)

Every Thanksgiving, Chandler tells the story of how his childhood was messed up and resulted in him hating the holiday forever. But this time around, the gang challenges his misery and everyone shares the story of their worst Thanksgivings.

This paves the way for some hilarious flashbacks that include young Chandler and Ross looking dapper, Joey and Monica with turkeys on their head, and so much more.

1 The One Where Everybody Finds Out (9.7)

The title pretty much speaks for itself because this was, indeed, the episode where everyone finally found out that Monica and Chandler had been dating behind everyone’s backs.

Phoebe and Rachel’s attempt to get them to confess is nothing short of laugh-out-loud funny, and everyone was delighted over the fact that this lovely relationship was finally out in the open.
