Friends has a lot of strong female characters, whether it be those within the main group, girlfriends who appear, or family members such as Ursula and Nora. They all have their own unique personalities, some being eccentric like Phoebe, and others being a little more bossy, like Monica, but they all bring something different to the series.

Love and relationships are a huge part of what this show is about, with the success and failure of different couples being one of the focal points of each series. But while Monica, Rachel, and Phoebe all eventually settle down and find love, do they actually have the best romantic potential out of all the women on the show?

10 Ursula

Ursula and Phoebe’s personalities are a great example of how not every twin is the same, even if they’re identical. Unfortunately for Ursula, she’s different in a negative way, as she’s simply not a nice person, which is why she’s not somebody that people would want to date.

Ursula is blunt and to the point with everything that she says, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, she can be a little too direct which can be quite rude at points. Ursula isn’t kind and doesn’t really think about others, and is seen lying to her partners as well, which is why she’s far from an ideal partner.

9 Jill

Much like Phoebe’s twin sister, Rachel’s sister Jill isn’t particularly concerned about how she treats others. Jill is just like Rachel was at the start of the show, only even ruder and more self-centered. She’s only interested in spending her father’s money and she is very selfish overall.

Jill doesn’t pay any real interest in Rachel’s friends, not wanting to get to know them and that showcases the type of person she is. She’s shown to be superficial and spoiled, and there’s little shown about her that would make her a good romantic partner.

8 Judy

Considering how long she’s been married to Jack, and how good they seem to be together, Judy is quite clearly doing something right as a romantic partner. She shows herself to be loyal and trustworthy given that the relationship lasts so long, and she is certainly a funny individual, coming out with some terrific zingers at points.

However, while she can be kind and caring at times, Judy also has the ability to be rude and very cruel. While she’s not always aware that she’s doing it, Judy doesn’t hold back on her opinions and thoughts, and that can lead to her upsetting others, which is never ideal in a romantic situation.

7 Janice

Sure, Janice can certainly be an annoying character, which means she wouldn’t be a great romantic partner for everyone. However, despite being portrayed as awful, she is actually a pretty great person and someone who would be a terrific romantic partner if given a chance (and if she could manage to stay faithful).

Janice is an excellent conversationalist and someone who loves to chat and show affection. Throughout her time on the show, she proves herself to be caring and kind, showing real interest in others, and while she might get a bad rap from those on the show, Janice is actually a lovely character.

6 Carol

While Carol wasn’t shown too much on the show after she gave birth, from her appearances early on it was very clear that she was a great person. She’s someone who gives time to others and is prepared to listen to their problems, offering real solutions as well, which is great for a relationship.

She is a funny character too, as she always brings a lot of humor when she appears and doesn’t take herself overly seriously. Plus, her caring nature and brilliant work as a mom show another great side of herself as well.

5 Charlie

Charlie is one of the best girlfriends to appear on the show, and she’s someone who is an ideal romantic partner. Charlie is intelligent and someone who can hold a great conversation, which makes her a lot of fun to be around as a person.

She’s shown to be a kind and caring individual during her time on the show, always willing to invest in others as she wants to learn about them, which is a great trait for any romantic partner.

4 Julie

The only thing that was a downside to Julie, as far as Ross was concerned, was that she wasn’t Rachel (or Rachem, technically!). However, in terms of her potential as a romantic partner, she truly was one of the best that ever appeared on the show. Julie was an intelligent woman who could hold engaging conversations, and she was someone who was really interested in everything going on.

She worked hard to get to know Ross’ friends, which is always an excellent trait in a romantic partner. However, the best aspect of Julie’s personality was purely how positive and fun she is. Julie’s always smiling and looking to have a good time, which is something that is crucial to any relationship.

3 Monica

Monica is a fantastic romantic partner, which is highlighted through her wonderful marriage to Chandler, which is the best relationship in the show. She is someone who puts 110% effort into everything in her life, from her friends, to work, and her relationships as well.

While Monica is notorious for being quite bossy at times, she is someone who is a lot of fun to be around, not being afraid of embarrassing herself to cheer others up, as the turkey dance proved. She is also very caring and a true family person, all of which make her a great partner.

2 Phoebe

Phoebe is one of the greatest characters in the show, and someone who would be a fantastic romantic partner, as Mike finds out. While her personality is certainly eccentric, that only means she is a lot of fun to be with, as Phoebe always has a positive outlook on life, no matter the situation.

She’s the most trustworthy of the female characters on the show and always thinks about other people before herself. Her kindness and sweet nature make her an enjoyable person to be around, while she also provides great advice too, as she can be very honest, which all makes for a perfect romantic partner.

1 Rachel

While Rachel is a little self-centered at the start of Friends, the journey she goes on sees her totally change as a person, becoming the best possible romantic partner on the show. There are few people more hardworking than Rachel, and the fact she ends up thriving within the fashion world is a testament to that.

She is kind and patient, and someone who can be trusted within a relationship. Rachel is also hilarious and is always happy to have fun, not taking herself too seriously. However, she’s also caring and always thinks about other people, and that is really shown at its best in her role as a mother.
