Most Disney princess movies featured one princess as the main character, but this isn’t the case with the Frozen films. The movies are about two very different sisters, and this means that fans are going to have their favorite of the two.

While some people relate more to Elsa and her magical ice powers and reserved personality, others relate more to Anna and her extroverted personality and more understated bravery. However, the great thing about the movies is that they focus on the importance of the bond between the sisters and give fans a relationship to enjoy that isn’t just romance.

10 Elsa: Creating Olaf

Elsa is told from an early age that her powers are dangerous and scary and that if she doesn’t hide away and control them that she will hurt and destroy others.

However, even as a kid, she has the ability to create wonder and joy. When she creates Olaf and brings him to life, it’s a sign that her powers aren’t just destructive at all but indeed have the ability to bring good to the world.

9 Anna: When she never gave up on Elsa

While Elsa had to endure some pretty awful treatment by her parents by being locked away from the world, Anna didn’t have it easy either. She didn’t understand what was happening and was also pretty much locked in a tower.

However, she never gave up on Elsa even when Elsa continued to push her away over and over. Her love for her sister was very inspiring.

8 Elsa: Saving Arendelle in Frozen 2

Elsa learns a lot about her magic in the first movie, but she learns even more in the sequel. She begins to master all the different elements of her powers, and she journeys to Ahtohallan where she learns the truth of the past.

Then, she has one very cool moment where she rides on the water horse spirit and is able to save Arendelle from the flood using a giant ice wave.

7 Anna: All the times she was brave

Elsa is also brave in a more subdued way as she has to fight against being told she was broken and bad all her life. But, Anna is also really brave. She might seem at first like the more gentle and even weak sister, but she proves this isn’t the case at all.

Anna is always willing to put her life at risk to save the people she loves, and she ventures into the cold in the first film to try to bring Elsa back and save Arendelle.

6 Elsa: When she finally found her freedom

There are actually two notable moments when Elsa learns the value of freedom and being herself. The first is in Frozen when she sings the iconic “Let It Go,” but in that instance, she still hasn’t learned how to both be herself and also find connection.

At the end of Frozen 2, she’s able to find a way to truly express herself and her magic while also maintaining close relationships with those she cares about.

5 Anna: When she became Queen of Arendelle

Elsa was a good queen, and she did her best to protect Arendelle and lead her people. However, she never seemed to fully enjoy or feel comfortable in this role.

In a lot of ways, it made sense when she decided to let Anna take over as queen while she herself would provide a connection to the spirits. Anna was well-suited for the job, and she was very excited.

4 Elsa: Making herself miserable to keep Anna safe

It might seem easier in some ways to relate to Anna because she often does the more grand heroic gestures to save Elsa, but Elsa is always trying to look out for Anna, too. She pushed her away many times over the years because she believed if Anna got too close she would get hurt.

While Anna was often frustrated and hurt by these actions because she didn’t understand, Elsa was doing her best in a tough situation to keep her sister safe.

3 Anna: Bringing down the dam in Frozen 2

One of the most heartbreaking moments in the movies is when Elsa appears to have died and Anna believes she has lost her sister and also Olaf forever.

The song, “The Next Right Thing,” might be the most powerful one from either film. However, despite her grief and loss, Anna knows she has to destroy the bridge to bring justice and harmony for what her grandfather did to the Northuldra.

2 Elsa: When she discovered she was the ice spirit

Elsa has some of the most inspiring songs in the movies, and she gets the really dramatic moments of realization that are expressed through music. While “Let It Go” might have been memorable, “Show Yourself” was the even more powerful ballad.

Elsa finally learns just how magical and amazing she truly is, and this is when she’s finally able to fully embrace who she was born to be.

1 Anna: When she saved Elsa’s life in Frozen

One of the most heart-warming moments from the franchise is at the end of Frozen when Anna tries to sacrifice herself in order to save Elsa from being killed by Hans.

This “act of true love” saves Elsa and also saves Anna from being frozen to death. It’s a wonderful message about how love is powerful, and it was a great departure from the normal princess movie trope of the prince saving the princess.
