Frozen is praised for its catchy musical numbers and gorgeous animation. Yet what makes this Disney movie truly special is the fascinating characters that we meet throughout the film. The people of Arendelle and magical creatures of this universe all bring something unique to the table, and that is why we adore Frozen as much as we do.

Because these characters are so interesting and well developed, we decided to sort them into their Hogwarts houses. Who belongs in which house? Read on to find out!

10 ELSA – RAVENCLAW

Elsa is the ultimate Ravenclaw for many different reasons. For one, she is brilliant. She is also extremely creative. In order to build an ice castle as beautiful as the one she resides in, you have to be both incredibly smart and imaginative in order to do the place justice.

Ravenclaws are known for being on the introverted side, because they like time to reflect on their own thoughts and they sometimes prefer to be alone or with small groups rather than large crowds. This perfectly describes the Snow Queen. Plus, it also helps that she can totally rock the color blue.

9 ANNA – GRYFFINDOR

Anna would fit perfectly well in the house of Gryffindor. This house is of course known for its bravery, and Anna is never afraid to take risks in order to save the people she loves most. She is willing to go on a dangerous adventure with Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf, in order to find her sister and stop the eternal Winter she has accidentally set upon Arendelle. This is no easy task and requires great risks involved, yet her courage and selflessness lead us to believe that our favorite princess, Anna, would make Godrick Gryffindor proud.

8 OLAF – HUFFLEPUFF

Olaf might as well be Hufflepuff’s new mascot because he exudes all of the qualities that are cherished most by this house. Olaf is kind, friendly, and most of all, loyal. These are traits that are well respected and sought after in the house of Hufflepuff and it is typical for the most sociable/ friendliest of people to wind up in this house. One of Olaf’s first introductory lines is to tell the others that he loves “warm hugs”. If that doesn’t sound like a Hufflepuff to you, we don’t know what does!

7 KRISTOFF – GRYFFINDOR

If Kristoff were to join any house at Hogwarts, we believe he would fit best in Gryffindor. Although at first he comes across as a bit lazy and selfish, as we get to know the character, we realize he is actually a total sweetheart.

At first, he is hesitant to help Anna on her journey (which makes sense because they are strangers), yet when he begins to realize that she’s a selfless person who wants to save Arendelle and help out her sister, he warms up to her and we see a softer side of Kristoff that is reminiscent of a true Gryffindor.

6 THE TROLLS – RAVENCLAW

Rowena Ravenclaw cherished wisdom. Who is able to provide more wisdom than these intelligent creatures? They aren’t called the “love experts” for nothing, and they tend to have excellent intuition when it comes to figuring out which two people would make the perfect match for eternity. This talent and skill requires great knowledge about the nature of love, and who better than a Ravenclaw to supply that knowledge?

5 HANS – SLYTHERIN

Unshockingly, we believe Hans would be the perfect fit for the house of Slytherin. Now we are in no way implying that all Slytherins are bad people, but they tend to be the most cunning and manipulative of all the houses and no one is more malicious in this sense than Hans.

It is honestly miraculous how convincing he is in the first half of the film that he is a good guy, and he successfully leads everyone to believe that he is the perfect gentleman. He turns out to be anything but, and his trickery when it comes to the hiding true nature of his character is impressive enough to put Severus Snape to shame. (Sorry Sev!).

4 DUKE OF WESELTON – SLYTHERIN

Again, this one doesn’t come as much of a surprise, but we strongly believe the Duke of Weselton, (mispronounced commonly throughout the film as the Duke of Weaseltown), is a Slytherin. He is so cartoonishly evil that he admits his plans to manipulate Elsa and Anna. He says, “Open those gates so I may unlock your secrets and exploit your riches.” He then (hilariously) adds, “Did I just say that out loud?”.

Yes, Duke of Weselton, you most certainly did. Yet despite all of his faults, none of us can deny, he’s got some seriously impressive moves on the dance floor. He even says in the midst of busting a move, “like a chicken with the face of a monkey, I fly!”.

3 MARSHMELLOW – HUFFLEPUFF

People may want to assume at first that Marshmellow is a Slytherin by the way he manhandles Kristoff, Anna, Sven, and Olaf away from Elsa’s ice castle. Yet in all truth, Marshmellow doesn’t intend to be malicious when he does this, he is simply trying to guard Elsa and protect her from harm’s way. He doesn’t want Elsa to get hurt and he is looking out for her best interest, which is why he shoos off the others. It may seem rude, but it’s only done because he cares a lot about Elsa and he is extremely loyal to her. Sounds like the ultimate Hufflepuff to us!

2 SVEN – HUFFLEPUFF

Sven is basically Kristoff’s best friend throughout his journeys and you can’t deny, he is an incredible listener. Although he doesn’t speak, the lovable reindeer often shows his character by selflessly helping others out on their journey, and he frequently saves them from near-death encounters. One of the sweetest and most underrated moments in the entire film is at the final scene when Sven and Olaf hug. There is just so much warmth there and it’s beautiful!

1 SNOWGIES – GRYFFINDOR

Snowgies are adorable mini snowmen that come out to play when Elsa is sick. These little guys are introduced to us in the Frozen short, Frozen Fever (2015). They are mischievous creatures and they sometimes cause trouble, as we see when they nearly destroy Anna’s birthday party. Still, they are good-natured and they don’t mean to harm anyone, they are simply looking to have a good time. This reminds us a lot of Fred and George Weasley who may be trouble makers, but they are good people deep down.
