Lori Loughlin has been a hot topic in the press ever since her family’s college admissions scandal in March 2019. Loughlin may have missed out on the end of Fuller House, but some fans still love Aunt Becky. The character joined Full House in the second season to co-host Wake Up, San Francisco with Danny Tanner.

No matter how much you love Becky, there are still some things about her that wouldn’t fly today. Let’s go back to the 80s and 90s to see where the love of Jesse’s life might not work in 2020.

10 Dealing with Danny

When Danny and Becky first meet, Danny can’t stand Becky. He thinks she is trying to steal his job, and he’s pretty chauvinistic about it. Becky handles it gracefully, but she and Danny have occasional problems working together throughout their time on Wake Up, San Francisco. It’s astounding that they stick with it long enough to land Wake Up, USA on Fuller House. In 2020, fans would not watch Becky putting up with Danny on or off the air.

9 Justifying Jesse

Becky can certainly hold her own with her boyfriend and later husband, Jesse Katsopolis. She proves him wrong many times and points out his arrogance to him. Unfortunately, Jesse still makes the same mistakes again and again, letting his ego get in the way of his relationship.

It’s great when they work it out, but some Fuller House fans might not be too heartbroken not to see them together anymore.

8 Shoulder Pads

Becky’s fashions change with the times, and she looks really good in many of her outfits–not to mention that she kills it with those power suits. The shoulder pads, though? No matter how many times the 80s come back into style, shoulder pads are still dated and probably won’t work anytime soon.

7 Dos and Don’ts

Jesse and Becky’s wedding day is unbelievable. The groom freaks out about losing his singlehood and goes sky diving! Becky, naturally, freaks out. Despite Jesse’s arrest, the special day is salvaged, and he sings “Forever,” as one does. Jesse’s actions on his wedding day are not acceptable, and Becky’s acceptance of them would never fly today.

6 Hair!

By the time Nicky and Alex are around, Jesse and Becky are in full-on 90s parenting mode. Like Michelle in her youth, Nicky and Alex have some trouble learning to obey authority. Jesse and Becky get better at teaching their sons right from wrong, but they don’t get much better at haircuts. The long hair is fine, but those bangs! How could the poor kids see anything? This family has a lot of hair, and some sharp viewers would probably complain about it today.

5 PDA

We get it, Jesse and Becky are in love. They certainly aren’t afraid to show it, either. The smooches and innuendo might be normal for some 80s and 90s shows, but this is a children’s program, too! Full House generally does a good job of keeping adult situations less central than overall family storylines. Fuller House, on the other hand, tries a little too hard to slip in the inappropriate jokes and still reach a kid audience.

4 Living Situation

By the time Nicky and Alex are a couple years old, the Tanner abode is getting pretty crowded. Jesse and Becky seriously consider moving out and getting a house of their own. The family constantly keeps them there. They change their minds about moving into Becky’s apartment when they get married because Jesse wants to be with the Tanners.

They never leave their attic apartment in the Tanner house because, again, family. While that’s really sweet, Becky’s compliance with staying in the fullest house in San Francisco might not be understood by the current generation.

3 Swagger

Becky is truly a great character. She loves her family and her career, and she tries to help people when they need it. She definitely holds herself in high esteem, which can take a wrong turn when her education and experience are used to make others feel small. This happens to Jesse a few times–early in the series when the couple attends a high-brow soiree, and years later when Becky’s bratty relatives insult Jesse for not making it past high school in his education.

2 Perfection

Becky is good at everything (except for singing). This can be annoying for normal people to watch, even if it is fictional. Full House is supposed to be a happy show, but all the other characters have a little more room to go deep with their strengths, weaknesses, and insecurities.

1 Perkiness

Did you ever think about the fact that Becky spends about 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with the Tanners by the time she marries in? She works with Danny, sleeps with Jesse, and hangs out at the house during her downtime. Given Becky’s inability to ever escape from her family, she has an unbelievably upbeat spirit. Viewers love the Tanners, too, but everyone needs a little personal space!
