Full House Cast Release Heartbreaking Statement on Bob Saget Death

The cast of Full House came together to release a joint statement about their friend Bob Saget after his tragic death. Saget is most remembered for playing patriarch Danny Tanner on the iconic sitcom Full House. Over its eight-season run, the show followed Danny’s life after losing his wife and enlisting his brother-in-law and best friend to help raise his three daughters. The ABC show’s success was in large part due to the cast’s chemistry, with Saget playing opposite John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin, Andrea Barber, and more.

Full House was so beloved by both the cast and its audience that Netflix produced a sequel series with the original stars in 2016. Cleverly dubbed Fuller House, the show this time focused on Danny’s daughter D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Bure) as she navigated widowhood and motherhood with a little help from her sister Stephanie (Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy (Barber). While Saget only appeared in 15 episodes throughout the sequel’s five seasons, he remained core to the story. Based on interviews and social media posts, it remained clear that the onscreen family was just as close offscreen. So when it was announced that Saget tragically passed away at age 65 on January 9 in Orlando, FL, his longtime co-stars were shattered.

John Stamos and the entire Full House cast released a joint tribute on Monday, January 10, elaborating on how important Saget was to them. Accompanying a lovely group photo of the main cast with the show’s creator Jeff Franklin, the note was signed by “John, Dave, Candace, Jodie, Lori, Andrea, Scott, Jeff, Ashley and Mary-Kate.” See the full tribute below:

All of the principal Full House cast members posted the homage to their social media accounts simultaneously. They included a call to action, asking fans to hug those they love in honor of the guy who gave the best hugs. Among qualities they admired in Saget, they joined countless other celebrity tributes in calling him “kind.” Many of the stars had previously released individual statements on the sad news, with Stamos, Bure, and Coulier all writing that they are heartbroken.

In many ways, the Full House team must feel like they’ve lost their father figure. Millions of fans around the world no doubt were hit with a similar sensation, as the actor became everyone’s TV dad. Saget led the show with kindness as Danny Tanner both onscreen and off. Between the Full House franchise, his wildly successful comedy career, and other ventures, Saget leaves behind a lovely legacy. He will certainly be remembered fondly.
