After a stellar season 1 that was met with high praise from both critics and audiences, FXX’s Dave returned just as strong as ever with season 2. The scope was bigger, the storylines were more absurd at times, and everything was even more thought-provoking and poignant. There was also a slew of great celebrity guest stars again.

Like season 1, many of Lil Dicky’s fellow rap stars showed up, as well as some other notable names. A few only appeared in short cameos that didn’t impact the story but others were pivotal to the overall plot or even shined in their very own episodes.

10 Kyle Kuzma

Kyle Kuzma is such an interesting case when it comes to NBA players. He’s a well-known athlete who won a championship with the Lakers in 2020 and also had a high-profile relationship with Kendall Jenner. That being said, he’s not considered to be a major NBA star.

In fact, he’s the subject of many memes online for the quality of his play. Regardless, Kuzma was notable enough to appear in Dave season 2, making a brief cameo in “Antsy.” Dave ran into him at a bar but the two didn’t exactly hit it off. Kuzma was seen with Instagram influencer Zack Bia.

9 Kevin Hart

When it was announced that Kevin Hart would have a cameo this season, fans were curious about how that would go down. Interestingly, Hart wasn’t really part of the story but was used to add a sense of realism to the events of the finale, “Dave.”

Lil Dicky geared up for a performance on the big stage of the MTV VMAs. Hart showed up in a commercial hyping the event as he was the host, even making a reference to not being able to host the Oscars. Hart would be an ideal choice to lead shows like this, so his inclusion made the world of the show feel more legitimate.

8 Lil Nas X

Of course, if you’re going to try and make a VMA appearance feel realistic, then you can’t only get the host right. “Dave” also saw Lil Nas X make a cameo as the artist who introduced Lil Dicky to the stage. Though it wasn’t relevant to the plot, this appearance was notable.

Lil Nas X immediately brought some laughs by flat out saying that he had the biggest song in the world, which is the kind of brag that feels right at home on this show. He then made a joke about what Lil Dicky’s name autocorrects to, getting a reaction out of the audience watching at home.

7 J Balvin/Slim Jxmmi/Swae Lee

These appearances are grouped together because they all happened at the same time. For some fans, the show got off to a slow start in season 2 but the quality really stepped up starting with “Somebody Date Me.” The episode had several celebrity guest stars, with these three getting cameos.

Lil Dicky was brought in for a rap video shoot because his humor lined up with what they were going for. The video’s stars were J Balvin, who Dave was somewhat starstruck by, and Rae Sremmurd, which is the duo of Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi. They had an entertaining conversation with Dave about his humor and place in rap.

6 Dave East/Desiigner/Denzel Curry/Lil Yachty/DJ Drama

One of the season’s highlights was “Ad Man,” an installment that centered on the relationship between Dave and Emma, including how they first bonded at their old job. These stars were together as they were picked for the XXL Freshman Class, which highlights up and coming rappers.

DJ Drama handled the beat of the freestyle they had to perform, though Dave did poorly. In an interesting note, Lil Dicky was actually part of the Freshman Class in 2016 with East, Desiigner, Curry, and Yachty, along with Lil Uzi Vert, Kodak Black, G Herbo, Anderson .Paak, and 21 Savage.

5 Elsie Hewitt/Hailey Bieber/Kendall Jenner

Returning to “Antsy,” the episode saw the relationship between Dave and producer Benny Blanco get more time. It did so in simple fashion, as Dave was hanging out in his pool, which just so happened to also feature the beautiful Elsie Hewitt, Hailey Bieber, and Kendall Jenner.

All three are famous models, with Hewitt having over 1 million followers on Instagram, Bieber having a famous family, and Jenner was once the highest-paid model in the world. The appearances of Bieber and Jenner had a connection to season 1, as Hailey’s husband Justin had a cameo and Dave later met Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall’s sister, at Justin’s party.

4 Benny Blanco

At this point, it’s almost hard to even classify Benny Blanco as a guest star. The mega-producer first appeared in season 1 and has been a pretty consistent presence ever since. He formed an immediate bond with Dave that was expanded upon in a major way in season 2.

After a small appearance in “Antsy,” Blanco spent an entire episode alongside Dave in “The Observer.” Their immature bromance saw them get very close with each other in ways that made GaTa and his friend uncomfortable. To reverse it, he and Dave were then made uncomfortable when white privilege was discussed. Blanco showed up several more times as a supportive friend of Dave’s.

3 CL

Season 2 got off to an intriguing start when Dave was shown to be in South Korea in the premiere, “International Gander.” He was there to film a music video with CL, a popular South Korean rapper. In typical Dave fashion, nothing went as it should’ve.

An absurd series of misunderstandings led to Dave having his laptop stolen, his intern being imprisoned, and him believing that CL was threatening to take her own life. In the end, CL decided not to work with Dave and told him off.

2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

One of Lil Dicky’s many fantastic lines is “I’m like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar/these hooks got me scoring/see me coming from afar.” So, getting the actual NBA legend to appear in season 2 was huge. In “Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,” the basketball icon reached out to interview Dave.

Lil Dicky was excited at first but the interview proved to be tougher than expected given Abdul-Jabbar’s history as a legitimate writer. The episode saw Abdul-Jabbar hang out with Dave for the day and while it was poignant, the wildest part was seeing him break his leg while trapped in Dave’s bathroom.

1 Doja Cat

As noted, “Somebody Date Me” was a fantastic episode. The main premise actually centered around Doja Cat, one of the most popular music artists in the world. She connected with Dave on a dating app and the two spent the installment messaging one another.

There was a lot to like here, starting with Doja Cat delivering a great performance. The episode also allowed viewers to see how hectic life can be for someone of her star caliber. On top of all of that, it was also a good look at how conversations can go poorly due to miscommunications on social media and through texting.
