Gal Gadot has revealed she keeps her Wonder Woman 1984 Golden Eagle armor on display in her home. The sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman has been eagerly anticipated for years, having been hit with numerous delays to the film’s final release date. With Wonder Woman 1984 being the one of first of many Warner Bros. titles set to be released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max over the next year, the fan-favorite superhero will be breaking new ground in a new age of cinema.

Amazonian Diana (Gadot) will undoubtedly be breaking new ground in Wonder Woman 1984 as well, as director and co-writer Patty Jenkins trades in Wonder Woman‘s bleak wartime setting for vibrant and excessive 1980s America. Diana not only faces greedy oil tycoon and television personality, Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal), but she will also battle against apex predator Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) as the villain makes her live-action debut. She’s also set to be reunited with World War I pilot and lost love Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) as he mysteriously reappears in Diana’s life. The trailers and promotional material for Wonder Woman 1984 have teased plenty to be excited about – including seeing Wonder Woman wear her Golden Eagle armor for the very first time on screen. Clearly, Gadot is excited about her upgraded armor too, as she’s kept part of it to proudly exhibit at home.

The Golden Eagle armor does have an impressive legacy as a part of Wonder Woman’s comic book history, often worn in battle as a tribute to Diana’s home of Themyscira. It’s clear that though the all-gold armor looks amazing, it will very much have a practical use in the film’s storyline, even beyond its original purpose in the comics. Diana will need all the strength she can muster to face off against both Lord and Cheetah. As Jenkins has previously revealed to Screen Rant, the main reason she needs a different style of armor is that “Cheetah can get you on all of your limbs.” It’s no secret Diana is going to have to fight like never before to defeat Wonder Woman 1984′s villains, and she needs this armor to do it.

Furthermore, Gadot’s caption hints at what critics are already saying about Wonder Woman 1984 – that it is a grounded, heartfelt sequel filled with hope and a triumphant new chapter in the beloved superhero’s legacy. The star’s excitement about Diana’s new costume is clear, and there isn’t long to wait until fans can finally see the iconic and impressive Golden Eagle armor in action – some international markets have the film already, and U.S. fans can watch Wonder Woman 1984 from December 25th on whatever size screen they choose.
