The Galaxy A33 5G is one of Samsung’s newest budget phones for 2022, but unfortunately, there’s good and bad news about the release date. Among its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Z handsets, another important smartphone focus for Samsung is its Galaxy A lineup. Galaxy A smartphones represent Samsung’s budget-minded phones. They have good specs, flagship-like features, and make a few smart compromises to reach accessible prices. If you want a Samsung phone and have around $300 or $400 to spend, Galaxy A is for you.

In March 2022, Samsung unveiled five new Galaxy A devices to further expand its budget portfolio — including the Galaxy A13, A23, A33 5G, A53 5G, and A73 5G. Out of those, the Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G have stood out as two of the most compelling options. The A53 5G delivers a 6.5-inch 120Hz display, a 64MP primary camera, and a 32MP selfie camera. The A33 5G has a 6.4-inch 90Hz display, a 48MP primary camera, and a 13MP selfie camera. Both phones have the same Exynos 1280 processor, 5000 mAh battery, and expandable storage support. Making all of this better are the price tags. Available for $449 and about $399, respectively, the A53 5G and A33 5G are compelling packages.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The best part? You’ll soon be able to buy the phones! Looking at the Galaxy A33 5G’s release date, specifically, Samsung says its global launch is scheduled for April 22, 2022. On that date, you’ll be able to buy the A33 5G in places like the United Kingdom, India, the Philippines, Malaysia, and more. Exact availability may vary by market, but Samsung’s targeting April 22 as the day when the Galaxy A33 5G will be widely available in all of its supported countries.

The Galaxy A33 5G Isn’t Coming To The U.S.

Unfortunately, the United States isn’t included in that list. As it currently stands, Samsung has no plans to bring the Galaxy A33 5G to U.S. shoppers. This is also true of the A32 and A73 5G. The Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A13 are both confirmed for a U.S. launch — but that’s it. Samsung likely has its reasons for this scattered release, but that doesn’t make it less disappointing. The Galaxy A33 5G could be a killer $399 smartphone if released in the U.S. With a capable processor, a 90Hz display, and a solid camera system, it’d give budget phones from Google and Motorola a run for their money.

Could Samsung change its mind and bring the A33 5G to the U.S. at a later date? It’s certainly possible. 2021 saw Samsung launch the A52 5G, A42 5G, A32 5G, and A12 in the United States. It’s possible Samsung’s decided to lessen its Galaxy A presence in the country. But there’s also precedent for more Galaxy A smartphones to make their way to the U.S. Considering how good of a value the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is, here’s to hoping that happens sooner rather than later.
