Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner added a priceless piece of furniture to her collection over the weekend: Sansa Stark’s Winterfell throne. The 24-year-old English actress garnered fame playing Sansa Stark, a principal character in all eight seasons of the fantasy series, from 2011 to 2019, when the show’s run on HBO came to an end. Though its final season received mixed reviews, the show is widely considered one of the network’s most popular series, and perhaps its best. Appropriately, fans are already clamoring for spinoffs; then again, they’re also in support of season 8 being remade, so maybe there’s just a collective Game of Thrones-related void in pop culture.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

While season 8 may have tapered off in the eyes of fans and critics, it’s hard to find issue with the conclusion to Sansa’s arc. The heroine, who was first seen in season 1 as a brat longing to officially be made a princess, progressed over time. From a young, submissive daughter to the Starks into a royal herself, one might argue that, in the end, she was the Game of Thrones’ true winner. She became a savvy negotiator, remained loyal to those she cherished most – principally her family, including sister Arya (Maisie Williams) and her “brother” Jon Snow (Kit Harington) – and climbed to the top of Westeros’ totem pole. By the end of the final season – thanks in part to the deaths of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), but primarily thanks to her own wit and natural inclination to lead – Sansa was crowned the Queen in the North.

And now, as seen on Turner’s Instagram story this weekend, the actress can pick up where her character left off as the proud possessor of the Winterfell throne Sansa held come the show’s end. The photo – which can be seen below – shows the throne seemingly sitting below the stairs in the actress’s home, and is appropriately captioned, “Welcome home.”

Since her days at Sansa, Turner’s stayed affixed in the world of strong, female leads. Last year, she starred as Jean Grey in the X-Men movie Dark Phoenix, and according to some killer fan art, looks as though she’d make a fitting Supergirl. No matter where her career goes, though, she’ll always be remembered best as Sansa, both by her own admission and through the affection of fans.

It seems that the actress has just as much appreciation for her Game of Thrones character as the fans do, and she’s able to take it a step further by putting the Winterfell throne in her home. There’s sure to be plenty of fans jealous they can’t get their hands on the Game of Thrones prop, but it’s difficult to argue Turner shouldn’t have it. She is, after all, the Queen in the North. Perhaps Game of Thrones fans will get future glimpses of the Winterfell throne on the actress’s Instagram.
