Bubble tea maker Kung Fu Tea just announced a promotional event with Honkai Impact 3rd for new drinks and a prize pool. Developed by miHoYo, Honkai Impact 3rd is regarded as the forerunner to Genshin Impact, the massively popular RPG from the same developer. The anime leanings in Honkai‘s art style make a boba promotion at Kung Fu Tea a solid fit for the game.

Honkai Impact 3rd was miHoYo’s largest game before Genshin Impact, the former having released in 2017. The game still receives regular updates and Honkai recently had a crossover event with Genshin on July 9th. The crossover brought characters and other gameplay elements over from GenshinHonkai being the eldest of the two, promotional events to keep the game popular are a smart move from its developer, and the Kung Fu Tea partnership is another apt choice. Kung Fu Tea promoted the final season of Fruits Basket with Funimation earlier this year, and Honkai Impact 3rd will continue that pattern with drinks and unique merchandise.

The Kung Fu Tea promo showcases two limited-time drinks inspired by Honkai Impact 3rd characters. Kung Fu Tea has stores throughout the United States and Canada, and the event will be available at every store in those regions between July 12th and August 12th. To take part, participants can purchase Honkai-branded bubble tea and will receive one art sticker inspired by the game per drink, up to 16 max. Additionally, one scratch ticket per drink is provided, with no upper limit on how many can be obtained. Redeeming the scratch ticket grants an in-game stigma as well as entry into a promotional sweepstakes. There’s a chance to win more in-game items, a G-SHOCK watch, and even a new 128Gb iPhone 12 as the top prize.

The character art in the advertisement is original for the promotion, and features characters Yae Sakura and the Herrscher of Sentience holding Kung Fu Tea drinks. The inspiration for the drinks comes from the characters themselves: “Fu-tune Purple Yam Swirl” is a play on the Herrscher of Sentience’s backstory as Fu Hua, and “Sakura Strawberry Sesame Blast” is of course based on Yae Sakura’s name.

The inclusion of Yae Sakura may rouse the interest of certain long-term fans. It’s been rumored that Yae might arrive in Genshin Impact as a Honkai crossover, evidenced by her apparent appearance in a Genshin Impact live stream. Her continued publicity could certainly stir that speculation even further. However, as of the most recent Genshin Impact 2.0 update announcement, Yae is unfortunately nowhere to be seen. However, Honkai Impact fans can still appreciate the character via the upcoming Kung Fu Tea promotion and pick up some neat merchandise featuring her when it arrives.
