miHoYo has officially announced its Special Program livestream for Genshin ImpactVersion 2.2. As usual, the livestream will occur about two weeks before the update actually arrives. For those interested in previewing upcoming content early, here’s everything to know about the 2.2 livestream’s date, start times, and how to watch.

The Genshin Impact 2.2 livestream will air on October 3, 2021. This is a Sunday, which is a bit surprising, considering miHoYo usually airs these presentations on Fridays. The Special Program will begin at 8 UTC-4, which is 5 am PT, 8 am ET, 1 pm BST, and 2 pm GMT. As with the most recent Genshin Impact livestreams, the new content will debut on the game’s official Twitch channel and a video will be uploaded to its YouTube channel later on.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Recently, miHoYo has started premiering its livestreams at the same time, whereas it traditionally aired the Chinese version of the broadcast earlier. A simultaneous presentation was supposed to have happened during Genshin Impact Version 2.1’s English livestream, but it was delayed slightly past its original airtime. And because of miHoYo’s recent crackdown on leakers, a lot of Version 2.2 still remains a mystery, which means the newest livestream will likely have plenty of surprises in store for viewers.

What To Expect From The Genshin Impact 2.2 Special Program Livestream

As with any Genshin Impact update, the typical additions of new weapons and events are to be expected. Version 2.2 may also open up more of the Inazuma region and add changes to the Serenitea Pot (which has occurred in every recent update thus far), but as usual, the biggest draws will be the new playable characters presumably arriving soon. And for the most part, these characters have remained a mystery.

miHoYo has posted info and images for Thoma as a playable character in Genshin Impact, but outside of this Pyro polearm user, no other characters have been officially shown off. Leaks earlier in the year pointed toward Yae Miko and Gorou being playable, and those certainly remain possibilities. It’s unlikely Thoma will be the only new playable character in Version 2.2 since new updates usually add at least two newcomers.

The Version 2.2 Special Program livestream comes at an important time for the free-to-play RPG. Many fans have been upset with the game’s lackluster first anniversary rewards and events, as well as miHoYo’s ostensible failure to listen to its fanbase. It remains to be seen if the newest livestream for Genshin Impact will be enough to restore some goodwill back to fans when it airs on October 3, 2021.
