Genshin Impact Becomes the Most-Viewed Subreddit in 2021

As 2021 comes to a close, mobile action role-playing game Genshin Impact has topped the list of most-visited subreddits for the year. Genshin Impact was released in late 2020 and came to the PlayStation 5 in 2021, meaning that 2021 was the first full year for Genshin Impact players could discuss gameplay and strategy online. It seems that Genshin Impact‘s spiking popularity has raised the game’s station compared to other games.

Genshin Impact has become one of the biggest games in the world in the year following its release. Players are able to traverse the world of Teyvat, encountering new characters, gods, and mystical elements as they unlock new nations and characters. Throughout the journey, players can pick up new skills and attacks, complete challenges, and earn new rewards as they increase their World Level. All of these challenges require players to not only have quick reflexes but also have the knowledge of how to attack each encounter properly. There is no better place to discuss these challenges, swap weird glitches, and admire wonderful Genshin Impact cosplays than on Reddit and it appears many players have done so in 2021.

According to the Reddit recap for 2021, the Genshin Impact subreddit was the most-visited gaming site on Reddit in 2021, beating out other popular titles like League of Legends and Final Fantasy XIV. The general gaming subreddit was in the top five, along with the GTA RP subreddit, which is focused on sharing content from the popular role-playing Grand Theft Auto Online server. While Reddit did not disclose the number of users that visited the Genshin Impact subreddit this year, it’s an impressive feat considering the subreddit currently has only 46,700 subscribers.

Compared to bigger gaming subreddits such as general gaming (31.3 million subscribers), League of Legends (5.6 million subscribers), and Final Fantasy XIV (672,000 subscribers), Genshin Impact is one of the smaller communities. The fact that this was the most-visited gaming subreddit of 2021 goes to show the vast reach of the game to a more diverse player base than the one that frequently visit Reddit. Because Genshin Impact is a mobile game, it’s quite possible that most players will just flit between the game and apps like Reddit for tips quickly, rather than staying and browsing for long periods of time.

One year after its release, it’s quite clear that Genshin Impact is still setting the standard for mobile games. With all-new content set to come to Genshin Impact in 2022, it seems quite likely that the community’s subreddit will continue to grow in the next year.
