Among the many new things that Genshin Impact‘s latest update has added to the game, the fishing system is one of the most intriguing, adding many new fresh fish to catch, including the Abiding Angelfish. The Abiding Angelfish is a rare butterflyfish native to Liyue that can be found as a pet for the Serenitea Pot in Genshin Impact. Players will need a decent fishing rod and the proper bait to catch it.

While some of the fish types introduced in the Genshin Impact 2.1 Update are located in multiple spots throughout the various regions of Teyvat, players can only catch the Abiding Angelfish at a single location. The fish won’t give in to aspiring anglers easily, so those unaccustomed to the fishing system’s reeling minigame will have to come prepared.

To catch the Abiding Angelfish in Genshin Impact, players must travel to Mt. Aocang in Minlin, Liyue. Players who’ve been following the story will recognize it as the home of the Adeptus Cloud Retainer. Atop the mountain sits a small tranquil lake with an island in its center. Players should search for a swirling pool of water in the lake. They can approach the spot from the island, and the option to fish will become available.

Catching the Abiding Angelfish in Genshin Impact

Within the fishing menu, players can choose which bait they will use to fish. They must select the yellow False Worm Bait to catch the Abiding Angelfish. Choose the wrong bait, and players may end up catching a Medaka instead. The reeling minigame is slightly reminiscent of Stardew Valley’s fishing mechanic, so timing is key for a successful catch. Once complete, the player will receive a 3-star Abiding Angelfish.

The new fishing gameplay in Genshin Impact requires players to get the correct bait if they want to catch a particular fish. To get the False Worm Bait required to catch an Abiding Angelfish, players must first acquire its crafting recipe from the Mondstadt Fishing Association. The seller goes by the name of Nantuck and can be found outside the walls of Mondstadt. Slightly north of the bridge leading into the city, Nantuck sells the False Worm Bait recipe for three Medaka. Players can make the bait at a Crafting Bench using Slime Condensate x 1 and Berry x 1.

While most of the other fish added in Genshin Impact‘s Update 2.1 can be caught no matter the time of day, the Abiding Angelfish only spawns from 6:00 to 18:00, in-game time. Players who arrive at Mt. Aocang too late will need to use the “wait” feature to pass the time until the Abiding Angelfish spawns again.

Genshin Impact is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, iOS, and Android.
