There’s a lot of monsters out in the world of Genshin Impact, each a different set of strategies and approaches to defeat. With a vast arrangement of elements and techniques to deal with from these monsters, the Cyro Regisvine is the perfect example of a beast that packs a punch. This guide will provide insights on how to find and defeat it.

The Cryo Regisvine appears multiple times in the game, but early on, there are two opportunities players have to defeat it. The first is to continue the Xiangling cooking quest-line “Mondstadt Gastronomy Trip” after first meeting her in Springvale. Eventually, Xiangling will enter a cook-off with one of the village residents. To find the ultimate ingredient for her winning dish, she enlists the traveler to help scour Mondstadt for something to inspire her cooking. Along the way, players come across a cave housing a dungeon, slimes, and a man seemingly freezing to death. After helping his warm-up, players can enter the dungeon to find and defeat the Regisvine at the end. Xiangling plans to use the Cryo Regisvine in her cooking as a prime ingredient. The other chance to fight the Cyro Regisvine is to travel to the Temple of the Wolf Dungeon and drop below the cliff near the beach. Underneath is a large cavern where a level 36 Cyro Regisvine is lying in wait.

How to Defeat the Cryo Regisvine in Genshin Impact

The Cyro Regisvine has a huge roster of techniques up its sleeve, it’s ridiculous. Since it’s a Cryo enemy, Water and Electro will do the most damage to it. Water serves to buff the incoming elemental damage done to an enemy, so Electro’s Super-Conduct effect on Ice becomes increasingly effective. Pyro is also a good match for melting but not as powerful as Electro all-together. Definitely bring a healer and don’t be afraid to pause the game and heal at extra times if playing solo or without a healer. The Regisvine has a Gem at the base of its stem that will shine whenever it appears. Attack the gem aggressively in order to stun the Regisvine for an extended period of time. This monster becomes harder to defeat the longer it’s left alive so being aggressive at the right moments rather than defensive will be much more beneficial. Use stamina cautiously because this monster will have players dodging a lot. So be prepared to run out of Stamina at the worst possible moments. Here is a list of its techniques, though the game doesn’t explicitly name them.

  • Flower Spin– Spins its entire head in a circle around the stem of its body. This move covers the entire close range area at 360 degrees. May freeze the floor around it.
  • Flower Slam– Slams it’s head into the ground when players get too close for too long. The flower head will remain down for a few seconds.
  • Flower Ice Slam– By slamming its head against the ground, a wave of Ice will surge across the ground in 3 trails. May do this 1-3 times in succession. This attack has a large area of effect, so run towards the flowers stem and get behind it to avoid this attack.
  • Glacial Beam– An enormously powerful beam of Ice will shoot from the center of its flower/face gem while it spins around counter-clockwise a full rotation. Avoiding this one is a little difficult, but if players have the Geo element applied to the traveler, throw up a Starfell Sword wall and it should negate a lot of the damage. This will leave the floor frozen in certain areas so try not to stand on them too long.
  • Cryo Laser Beam – Using two of its leaves, the Regisvine will fire a cryo beam and move them across the player. This move can be dodge at the last second to avoid taking damage.
  • Ice Shards– Floating shards of Ice that fly out from the Regisvine and quickly home in on the player. Run or dodge this by pulling U-turns or fast breaks. The key is to wait for 3 of the icicles to converge on the character and dodge at the last second.
  • Ice Pillars – The Cryo Regisvine will shrink down while pointing it’s entire body upwards. Pillars of Cryo explosions will manifest beneath the player as they walk around. Standing in place is not an option. Keep moving and dodge every couple of seconds to conserve stamina. Do not run as this attack lasts a long time, and running would consume stamina too quickly.

As stated before, attack the gem at the bottom of it’s stem to stagger it and charge in. Attack it as much as possible using the more powerful combat abilities as well as melee attacks. When it gets back up, it will swing around knocking everything away. The gem or “eye” at the center of its flower head is also extremely vulnerable once the bottom gem has been destroyed. The bottom gem may sometimes reappear immediately, while other times it won’t. Be patient and avoid its attacks as much as possible while getting in close to deal some damage. Destroying the eye in its flower head does a lot of damage and will stun it for some time so attack either one weak point.
