Sango Pearls are one of the many items that players can gather in Genshin Impact. They were added in version 2.1 of the game. Previously, there was not really any reason to collect Sango Pearls. While players could gather them, they were not used in any crafting recipes, so players just ended up with them sitting in their inventory.

Now, players finally have a reason to gather them. The new banner in Genshin Impact allows players the chance to get Sangonomiya Kokomi, the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island. To ascend her, players need Sango Pearls.

Appropriately enough, Sango Pearls are found near the Sangonomiya Shrine on Watatsumi Island, where Kokomi makes her home. The pearls are found within giant purple oysters, and while they appear on land, the best place to look for them is near water, especially near the reefs around Sangonomiya Shrine.

Gathering Sango Pearls in Genshin Impact

Starting at the waypoint in Sangonomiya Shrine, head directly north towards the secondary Genshin Impact waypoint. Along the way, there are several Sango Pearls. There’s also a convenient fishing spot nearby. There are several Sango Pearls around the area, particularly to the southeast. They should be easy enough to spot, as they have that sparkle indicating an obtainable item. If players find one, look around because there are usually others nearby.

Players can also check south of the Sangonomiya Shrine waypoint in Genshin Impact. They can be found on the piece of land between the two bridges. From there, glide down into the canyon, and there are more pearls southeast of the waypoint. Once players have drained the Suigetsu Pool, there are Sango Pearls at the bottom. Players can use the Palace in a Pool Domain as a waypoint, turn around, and find several Sango Pearls, along with an interesting puzzle.

There are also Sango Pearls inside Genshin Impact‘s Heart of Watatsumi, though it requires the player to complete the quests in The Moon-Bathed Deep series first. The Sango Pearls respawn every 48 hours, which is standard for local specialty items. It’s worth collecting them for Sangonomiya Kokomi, because as she continues to ascend, she requires more and more Sango Pearls. She is currently the only character to require them, but it’s possible that it might change in the future. Perhaps when General Gorou is released, he will require them as well, though that has yet to be confirmed. If that turns out to not be the case, and players are stuck with a bunch of unused Sango Pearls, they can always throw the pearls into the parametric transformer to potentially get something more useful.

Genshin Impact is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Android, and iOS.
