In the previous 1.2 update for Genshin Impact, Miohoyo has finally expanded the region of Teyvat. Alongside two new playable characters, the mountainous region of Dragonspine is now available for players to explore and uncover many of its treasures and secrets. While still within the confines of Mondstadt, this frosty, blizzard-ridden landscape makes it’s debut as the most perilous location the Adventure’s guild has ever explored within Mondstadt.

Dragonspine sits between eastern Mondstadt and Liyue, so players can enter from either side. A handful of new monsters, weapons, and items can be found on Dragonspine’s snowy peaks. Mihoyo has chosen to make Dragonspine’s cold weather an important feature in exploration by making it difficult to travel without almost freezing to death. Players are required to find heat-sources and reset their frost meter in this sub-zero climate. Swimming, extreme weather conditions (beyond its already extreme conditions), and cryo debuffs will hasten the meter. Once the meter is full, players will begin losing health at an exponentially fast rate, where damage taken is increased over time. Another notable feature would be the brand new dungeon rewarding players with two brand-new artifact sets. Here’s how players can make their way into Dragonspine.

How to Unlock Dragon Spine in Genshin Impact

To get to Dragonspine, players should first activate that corresponding quest-line that leads there. If it’s not already in the quest screen, open the special events menu, on the left side of the radial shortcuts. This tab showcases all relevant activities and special rewards related to the new quest and area. There should be two options, one for the event details and the other to show the location of where the quest is located. The cursor will appear directly in Mondstadt, and more specifically, at the alchemy station. Once players arrive there, instead of the usual shop-hand, players will get to meet Sucrose in-game for the first time as an NPC. Sucrose is an Anemo vision user, with animal ears much different than usually seen around Mondstadt. Similar to Klee, her ears are pointy but unlike Klee’s, are more fox-like.

Sucrose will engage with the Traveler and Paimon in relatively unimportant conversation but soon reveals to be an apprentice to Albedo, the lead alchemist of the Knights of Favonius. Sucrose believes Albedo is hiding the details of some super-secret research or special alchemy that he cannot reveal to anyone else so easily. Inviting players to investigate, she tells the Traveler of his current location, which would be the mountain Dragonspine. Afterward, follow the cursor down the road left of Dadaupa Gorge, and players should hit a brand new teleporter near an Adventurer’s guild camp. Continue following the path forward, and players will soon hit a bridge that connects to the snowy landscape of Dragonspine. Don’t forget to climb a little way up the mountain to the Archon shrine and reveal the map for easier exploration.
