Using footage from the action role-playing game Genshin Impact, dedicated fans have managed to recreate the iconic opening from the second season of the Demon Slayer anime. The beloved anime series, based on an equally successful manga run, recently concluded its second season on February 13. Constant Genshin Impact story quest updates, meanwhile, have turned that title into an ever-expanding fantasy epic of its own.

Like its original manga predecessor, the Demon Slayer anime centers around a teenager named Tanjiro Kamado whose family is killed by a demon. His sister transformed into a demon, Tanjiro is recruited by a demon slayer named Giyu and undergoes years of training before being officially initiated into the Demon Slayer Corps. Demon Slayer takes place in a unique fictional version of Japan’s Taisho period, with demons and demon slayers serving as secretive aspects of an otherwise normal world. The popular franchise has inspired all manner of additional media, including a stage play and animated film, with a Demon Slayer video game update recently adding two new characters to the intense action title.

A talented group of fans has managed to recreate Demon Slayer’s season two opening within Genshin Impact. The impressive cinematic project, created by Reddit user musicguygenshin and a friend, uses footage from the action role-playing game’s various story quest cutscenes and animated trailers. The dazzling recreation puts Diluc and Kazuha in the starring role as Demon Slayer’s Tanjiro, with Itto playing the role of Tengen and Keqing becoming Zenitsu. Going the extra mile, musicguygenshin even played the Demon Slayer theme song on Genshin Impact’s in-game lyre.

While Genshin Impact puts heavy emphasis on action and open-world exploration, miHoYo’s beloved ARPG also features an ongoing storyline for players to experience. Animated media like Genshin Impact’s Shenhe backstory trailer is used to explore and expand the title’s fantasy world of Teyvat, diving deeper into specific characters or storylines. Character teasers also help players become familiar with upcoming playable heroes before they actually launch, making fans more willing to purchase pulls for a chance to obtain them in-game.

Using the wide variety of trailers and cutscenes in Genshin Impact, musicguygenshin has managed to perfectly mirror the opening scene in season two of Demon Slayer. This even extends down to playing the iconic theme song on an in-game lyre, demonstrating great care and an impressive level of detail. Both extremely popular projects feature a large cast of superpowered demon fighters, adding more similarities between the two.

Genshin Impact is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, iOS, Android and PC.
