Genshin Impact: Shenhe’s Character Backstory Revealed In Trailer

A new character trailer for Genshin Impact reveals the isolating backstory of the upcoming Cloud Retainer disciple Shenhe. Genshin Impact‘s Shenhe was announced in November, and will be available from The Transcendent One Returns banner beginning on January 5 as part of the game’s highly-anticipated 2.4 update.

Genshin Impact regularly introduces new characters for players to acquire, with new releases often being some of the title’s most highly sought-after heroes. Despite not yet being available, Shenhe has already garnered a large following of fans enamored by her design, story, and skills, quickly making her one of the most desired game characters. As such, Shenhe will likely be a big hit when she arrives in January, but the Polearm-user isn’t the only new character soon coming to the game. Shenhe will be joined by Genshin Impact character Yun Jin, Geo, also arriving with the 2.4 update on Jan 5.

The official Genshin Impact YouTube channel has given fans a deeper look at Shenhe, unveiling her character backstory with a cinematic trailer. The beautiful yet bleak video showcases Shenhe’s secluded and lonely mountain life as the disciple of an adeptus, exploring how growing up in near isolation has changed Shenhe into a distant and indifferent character. YouTube commenters have expressed their excitement over both the trailer and the new character, with many eager for her in-game arrival.

With Shenhe’s Genshin Impact release date just days away, fans now know more about the character and her skills. The Genshin Impact Cryo user’s abilities include the normal attack, Dawnstar Piercer, as well as her Elemental Burst, Divine Maiden’s Deliverance. Using the latter will unleash the power of the Talisman Spirit, dealing AoE Cryo damage, before creating a field that decreases both Cryo and Physical resistance of those within it. Cryo damage is also dealt periodically to enemies inside the field, making Shenhe a powerful character to obtain.

Genshin Impact fans have been waiting a long time for Shenhe to come to the hit RPG, and with the wait nearly over, it won’t be long until it’s clear just how popular the new character will be. From responses to the newly-released trailer, it seems as though Shenhe might prove to be more desired than Yun Jin, with countless fans praising Shenhe’s character design. The characters are just a small part of the Genshin Impact 2.4 update, with more surprises from developer miHoYo likely on the way.
