As players continue through Genshin Impact, they’ll very quickly find that the weapon system has a lot to offer. It’s also much more complicated than it initially seems. All weapons have secondary stats and through refinement, can generate even better bonuses.

This list will only account for the characters that are always available through the wishing system. Event exclusives, such as Albedo, Zhongli, and Venti, are not included. The same rules apply to weapons. For example, Festering Desire will not be included as an available weapon. Weapons that require a monetary transaction will be left out too, such as the Battle Pass exclusives. However, weapons that just require some outrageously good luck will be included.

10 Traveler, Qiqi, Xingqiu, & Bennett – Skyward Blade

The Travelers, Qiqi, Xingqiu, and Bennett benefit the most from the Skyward Blade’s secondary stat: Energy Recharge. Available through the permanent Wish banner, the Skyward Blade offers a max Base ATK of 608 and an Energy Recharge of 55.1%. Its passive ability, Sky-Piercing Fang, increases the character’s Crit Rate by 4-8%. It’ll also grant increases to Movement SPD, ATK SPD, and Normal and Charged Attack DMG.

All of this means that whoever uses the Skyward Blade will be able to recharge their Elemental Burst that much faster. This is great if you’re in a healing pinch or need the extra attack strength.

9 Xiangling – Skyward Spine

As the only truly free polearm user, Xiangling is a fan favorite. In fact, she’s received for free after clearing Floor 3, Chamber 3 of the Spiral Abyss, the event titled Spiral Abyss Event – People’s Choice. The best choice for Xiangling is the Skyward Spine. It has a great balance between Energy Recharge and increasing attack. Its ability, Blackwing, increases a character’s CRIT Rate, as well as Normal ATK SPD.

However, since the Skyward Spine is wildly difficult to get, the Crescent Pike and Dragon’s Bane are other good options.

8 Diluc, Chongyun, & Beidou – Wolf’s Gravestone

For Diluc, Chongyun, and Beidou, the player’s best option is to focus on raising their ATK and DMG stats. All three are highly offensive characters and as such, benefit the most from Wolf’s Gravestone. This claymore is all ATK and is most advantageous when targeting weakened opponents. The refinement skill, Wolfish Tracker, already increases ATK. But when attacking enemies with less than 30% HP, it not only increases the wielder’s ATK, but the rest of the team.

Having any one of these characters plus Wolf’s Gravestone has the potential to make boss battles and item grinding so much easier. However, since Wolf’s Gravestone is only available through the gacha system and a 5-star item at that, it’s just a nice to have thought for most players.

7 Ningguang – Lost Prayer To The Sacred Winds

Much like Noelle, Ningguang is heavy on shields generated from her Geo powers. But also as a catalyst user, her attack relies on elemental boosts. The Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds is the best option for Ningguang.

Though its secondary stat is CRIT Rate, this works in Ningguang’s favor for her Normal attacks. With the boosts from Boundless Blessing, it allows Ningguang to attack faster and increases her Element DMG Bonus.

6 Jean, Kaeya, & Keqing – Aquila Favonia

Implied to be Vanessa’s blade, the Aquila Favonia is best paired with Jean, Kaeya, and Keqing. This blade focuses on boosting ATK and DMG stats since its secondary stat gives a Physical DMG Bonus. Through refinement, the player can enhance Falcon’s Defiance. This increases ATK and, when the character takes DMG, also regenerates HP.

Including Jean here may be confusing, since her Elemental Burst has the same cost as Qiqi’s. However, Jean’s Dandelion Breeze not only heals, but also deals Anemo DMG to any enemies entering or exiting the field. In addition, Falcon’s Defiance enhances Jean’s healing ability.

5 Noelle – Whiteblind

One of the easier claymores to obtain, the Whiteblind focuses on boosting defense. While most claymore users are ATK heavy, Noelle is a little different. The Whiteblind’s secondary stat increases DEF and its refinement skill, Infusion Blade, increases both ATK and DEF.

As the only Geo claymore character, Noelle’s elemental skills focus on shields and defense. Her Elemental Burst, Sweeping Time, increases ATK that scales to her DEF stats. Being offense reliant and increased by defense, the Whiteblind is the best weapon for her.

4 Xinyan & Razor – Skyward Pride

Claymore wielders tend to be best for players who don’t constantly mash the combat button. With larger weapons, the swings are slower, but deal more damage. This mechanic is especially prevalent for Xinyan and Razor. So for players willing to take it easy with the mashing, the Skyward Pride is great for a play style more reliant on Elemental Bursts.

Its secondary stat grants additional Energy Recharge. Paired with offensive Elemental Bursts, like Xinyan’s Riff Revolution and Razor’s Lightning Fang, it makes the recharge faster and boosts ATK. Sky-Ripping Dragon Spine not only increases DMG, but deals additional damage after using an Elemental Burst.

3 Barbara – Prototype Amber

Barbara is a catalyst healer and a free character after a player completes Act III: Song of the Dragon and Freedom. Depending on the playstyle, she can become an essential part of any team as a healer.

Due to her unique catalyst abilities, Barbara does best with the Prototype Amber. This weapon focuses on HP, increasing the base HP and healing potential. For a character like Barbara, it’s strategically best to max out her healing. The Prototype Amber’s refinement skill, Gilding, helps regenerate HP for all party members after using an Elemental Burst.

2 Diona, Fischl, & Amber – The Stringless

Despite the lack of bow wielders, Genshin offers a lot of options for them. Granted, half of the available bow users are event exclusives: Childe, Ganyu, and Venti. For players who rely on the aimed shots, the Stringless offers Elemental Mastery as its secondary stat. With bows having weak and hard to use Normal Attacks, relying on bow wielders for sniping and elemental reactions is a decent strategy.

The Stringless’s refinement ability, Arrowless Sting, increases both Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst DMG. With all three characters having offensive Elemental Bursts, the attack increase works well for them.

1 Sucrose, Lisa, & Mona – Mappa Mare

Due to how catalyst users function by nature, the best option for most of them is to max out their Elemental Mastery. Despite being a 4-star weapon, the Mappa Mare does exactly that.

With a secondary stat-boosting Elemental Mastery, the Mappa Mare lends itself to players who rely on elemental reactions to deal damage. Its refinement skill, Infusion Scroll, grants more damage based on elemental reactions. Since all three users have offensive Elemental Bursts, the Mappa More will play to those skills.
