Ghost Hunters Corp: How to Use the Automatic Writing Book (& What It’s For)

One of the primary objectives in Ghost Hunters Corp is to investigate the home and gather evidence about the ghost haunting the building that will help the team of players identify it, and Written Evidence can tell players what kind of exorcism to perform. There are several different categories of equipment in Ghost Hunters Corp, including defensive and protective items, consumables, exorcism items, and evidence-gathering items. Evidence-gathering items include the EMF Reader, Thermometer, Automatic Writing Book, Spirit Box, and Entity Analyzer. The Automatic Writing Book in Ghost Hunters Corp is one place where ghosts can communicate with the player and help identify themselves. Otherwise, ghosts can also write on the walls.

The Automatic Writing Book in Ghost Hunters Corp will either receive drawings and symbols or written words from the ghost. The kind of writing, as well as whether it’s in the book or on the walls, will tell players which of the two exorcism steps they will need to complete. Here’s how to use the Automatic Writing Book in Ghost Hunters Corp and what the evidence gathered with it means.

Encourage the Ghost to Write in Ghost Hunters Corp

The Automatic Writing Book in Ghost Hunters Corp is an open, blank journal with a pencil resting in the spine. It can be used while held in the player character’s hand or while on the ground. Because the goal is to have the ghost interact with the book, players will want to avoid having a protective item like the Crucifix or Statue Marie nearby. Otherwise, the ghost will be repelled from the area, and players may mistakenly believe there is no written evidence when there should be.

To use the Automatic Writing Book in Ghost Hunters Corp, or get the ghost to write at all, players will need to clearly ask it to cooperate. They should ask questions like, “Can you write in the book?” or, “Can you write on the walls?” Players will want to check their microphone settings to make sure their words are being picked up, or they may repeat the same questions endlessly without results.

If the ghost has written in the book, whether it is in the player’s hand or on the ground, players nearby will hear the sound of a page turning to signify the presence of written evidence. Though it is not technically in the Automatic Writing Book, the page turn sound occurs if the ghost writes on the walls in and around its primary room as well. If the ghost does not write at all, and there are no obstructions to the book, it is possible written evidence is not a form of evidence for the particular ghost or mission.

If the ghost does write in Ghost Hunters Corp, there are four kinds of writing players might see, corresponding to two possible kinds of exorcism. These include:

• Drawings/Symbols in the Automatic Writing Book: Throw Holy Water at the ghost’s feet.
• Text written in the Automatic Writing Book: Find and reveal the Pentacle in the house with the Instant Camera flash, then throw Holy Water on it.
• Drawings/Symbols on the Walls: Throw Holy Water at the ghost’s feet.
• Text written on the Walls: Find and reveal the Pentacle in the house with the Instant Camera flash, then throw Holy Water on it.

Players should log the gathered evidence on their tablet to show them all the required exorcism steps in one convenient spot. When they are ready to exorcise the spirit, they will need to bring Holy Water and the Instant Camera with them.

Typically, the Automatic Writing Book in Ghost Hunters Corp is available starting at Level 4. Players can buy one for $20 from the Ghost Market if one is not already provided to them or they lose one during a mission.
