Raids are not an uncommon sight in games these days, and Ghost of Tsushima has its own, called the Tale of Iyo, which gets broken up into three chapters. The first chapter makes an excellent introduction to the others where key concepts get carried over to the next ones. As with most raids, getting the right team set up and knowing each section’s layout will make quick work of Chapter 1.

For the character setup, having one of each character type will be the best character set up to have. Some items will make life easier for each character. Seeing how many shield enemies will have a sword that can do the water stance will be preferable. Also, having the smoke bomb is helpful for the last part of the chapter. Otherwise, items that will gain resolve at quick rates will be convenient because quick enemy deaths and special abilities will be paramount for the last phase, the Iyo chests, and staying alive in general.

How To Get The Three Crystals In The Tale of Iyo: Chapter 1 For Ghost Of Tsushima

The first phase of Chapter 1 in The Tale of Iyo for Ghost of Tsushima is about collecting three crystals from red sacs. Players have to collect the crystals and place them in an upper area at the far side of the area’s entrance. The location of the three sacs that contain the crystals will be the following:

  • Crystal 1: After crossing the multiple rope bridges, there is a staircase on the right side of the map with a sec that has a crystal.
  • Crystal 2: A sac with the crystal is on the right side before the first staircase going up to the back area.
  • Crystal 3: From the second crystal, go up the stairs to the next level. Stay on that level, and there will be another crystal in the sac on the left.

Now that we know where the crystals are, there is a catch on getting them. Enemies must get killed close to the sacs because, during this chapter, enemies that die will explode. After getting two enemies to explode near the sac, it will burst and reveal the crystal. Have the character with the most health, typically the Samurai, take the crystal and run past the enemies to place the crystal. This process has to get done fast because if too much time passes, Iyo will find the group and descend upon the team ending the mission. Having Iyo find the team is the same for each section players go through, which has a task that needs completing. The best way to get through this section is to have everyone surround a sac, kill the two enemies it takes to burst it, and three players go racing off to the placement area, clearing the way for the person carrying the crystal. Place all three and move on to the next section.

How To Fill The Blood Wall In The Tale Of Iyo: Chapter 1 For Ghost Of Tsushima

After a few rope swings and platforms, players will arrive at a section with a few buildings and red orbs, seen in the previous platforming section, that will trap players in place. After clearing the area, there will be a massive gate with a circular pool in front of it. This area’s objective is to kill Oni with a red glow to them found inside the buildings. Killing them will leave orbs that have to be collected and brought back to the pool. Filling the pool with orbs will fill the gate with blood. When the blood reaches the top of the gate, it will open to the next area. An excellent strategy for this section is to have the Hunter stand on the button overlooking the cliff area, which creates a platform that gives a shortcut to one of the buildings with an Oni inside it. With the Hunter in place, the other three pick a building, and when the Oni is alive in the building, the respective player kills them and heads back with the orbs. The orbs will countdown on the left side of the screen from 10, and more orbs can be collected by killing other enemies afterwards up to a maximum of 20. Focusing on killing the Oni, getting the ten, and then running back will be the most straightforward strategy. As players get used to this section, killing some enemies on the way to get more orbs can be done but can be risky.

How To Complete The Abyss In The Tale Of Iyo: Chapter 1 For Ghost Of Tsushima

After the gate, players will get to a section with a few buttons to push to create platforms. Two players will take the low road, and two will take the high road after pushing some floor buttons. An easy tactic here to learn is to have two players stay in direct sight of each other as there will be times that players have to stay on the buttons and get stuck by the red orbs. A quick arrow will unstick players and allow them to go to the next sections after the first players move through. The following part is more platforming but with a twist where sword attunements for moon, sun, and lightning await that spawn platforms. The trick is at the top, where the moon one will be; one player stays at the top with the attunement. A second player gets the moon attunement, drops a level to clear the moon gate, and then the player who stayed on top gets the moon attunement at that section to take care of the moon gate at the base floor.

How To Finish The Crimson Ridge In The Tale Of Iyo: Chapter 1 For Ghost Of Tsushima

The Crimson Ridge is the most challenging section in Chapter 1. A mix of various enemies from ghosts, archers, and soldiers with shields can make this area a complete mess. Having one character for each class is vital as each has to get an attunement completed. There is a catch where each attunement removes a different ability from the player getting attuned. Attuning all four players completes the area successfully. The site is square-shaped, with the building being the central part of it, with players making their way around it. The preferred order to move around the area is that the team moves counter-clockwise together to each attunement from the right of the entrance. A statue with a glowing orb is at each corner that houses the attunement. From this same starting point, the abilities removed per attunement are the class ability, sword, dodging, and ghost weapons. Only one gets removed for each character, and the effect lasts until the end of the area.

Players have to be careful because ten enemies must die without dying themselves because to become fully attuned. If players die and don’t kill their allotted number of enemies, they have to go back to the attunement orb and start over for that attunement. It can make life difficult if the right character doesn’t have the correct attunement. From the starting area moving counter-clockwise, the classes to get the attunements would be the Assassin, Hunter, Samurai, Ronin. The last two can be interchanged depending on each player’s skill level, but this is a recommended list. Smoke bombs will be very handy as it will allow any character to assassinate enemies quickly. This section is also a timed area, so Iyo can show up if players die multiple times. Unleashing special abilities will make life easier for all characters, so having lots of resolve gain will help.
