Sony is currently offering a free dynamic theme based on Ghost of Tsushima for PlayStation 4 owners. Ghost of Tsushima itself will be available on Friday, July 17th.

Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most anticipated PS4 releases of the summer, and probably the biggest release for the console after The Last of Us Part 2 came out last month. Hype for the game was built up not only by its gorgeous open world and stylish samurai combat, but also because it’s one of the last AAA games to come out for the console before the PS5 hits stores later this year. Anticipation for Ghost of Tsushima has only grown since the game was delayed by a month in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Players only have a couple more days to wait until they can finally get their hands on Ghost of Tsushima, but Sony is offering a little bonus to fans the week of its release. As spotted by game industry analyst Wario64 on Twitter, a dynamic Ghost of Tsushima PS4 theme is currently free on PSN. Being a dynamic theme, it features animation and music in addition to a wallpaper. In this case, it’s the sound of insects chirping and a flute playing, set against a dramatic backlit shot of the game’s protagonist Jin Sakai with leaves blowing in the background. The dynamic theme is the same one offered free by developer Sucker Punch earlier this year, so some players may already have grabbed it the first time around. Sony hasn’t said how long the theme will remain free, but it’s likely not going to stay that way for long.

While Ghost of Tsushima isn’t releasing until Friday, its review embargo lifted earlier in the week. Ghost of Tsushima got mostly positive reviews, with Screen Rant giving it 5/5 stars. Some reviewers took issue with what they found to be a repetitive structure and uninspired open world design, but most agreed that its swordplay is top notch and nearly all praised the game for its gorgeous visuals. For anyone who isn’t enamored with the story and missions in Ghost of Tsushima and just wants to explore the island, players can keep going after the main game ends.

From its early reviews, Ghost of Tsushima looks like a great game to end the PS4 lifecycle on. Its stunning graphics seem to push the limits of the current console’s abilities, opening the door for what might be possible on the upgraded hardware of the PS5.

Ghost of Tsushima releases on July 17, 2020 on PlayStation 4.
