The Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is coming out soon, bringing the Iki Island expansion with a whole bunch of animals for players to tame and pet. Ghost of Tsushima has been out for over a year, with players enjoying the journey of protagonist Jin Sakai as he sets out to defeat the Mongols invading his home. The game has received a few updates from Sucker Punch up to this point, with a free 4K 60fps upgrade and the multiplayer mode Legends. The Director’s Cut of the game will be available on PS4 and PS5, and will add the narrative Iki Island expansion to further explore Jin’s story.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Ghost of Tsushima is an expansive open-world game, with Sucker Punch adding a ton of different activities for players to engage in outside of fighting the Mongol invasion. Jin Sakai is able to find secret areas across the island by following golden birds, meditate and form haikus to relax, and soak in hot springs to increase his health. The Iki Island DLC looks to continue bringing players new content to enjoy, including new animals to find across the island.

One of the most popular things that players found in Ghost of Tsushima was honoring Inari Shrines, which unlock Minor Charms for players to equip and customize Jin. When Jin arrives at an area where an Inari Shrine is located, a small fox shows up and leads the protagonist on the trek to the shrine. After honoring the shrine, players could then choose to pet the fox if they pleased. This proved to be a favorite among fans, which is perhaps why more animals to pet are being added in soon.

All Animals To Tame In Ghost Of Tsushima’s Iki Island Expansion

Iki Island doesn’t seem to have any of the fox holes nor Inari Shrines from the main story of Ghost of Tsushimabut it looks like there will be a whole new cast of furry friends for Jin to discover. Sucker Punch announced on its Twitter that Jin will be able to discover animal sanctuaries across the new island, where he can use his flute to play music to tame the animals. After calming the animals, Jin can return to these sanctuaries at any time to pet them as much as the players want.

Sucker Punch revealed a few of the different animal species that players will encounter in the Iki Island expansion with clips of in-game footage. The first video shows a tiny cat that Jin gets to pet, which is appropriately adorable as it nibbles on the samurai’s arm. The other two animals that were shown in following videos were monkeys and spotted deer that Jin can feed.

These were the only animals that Sucker Punch revealed to be in the new expansion so far, but this is still a good amount of creatures for players to encounter on Iki Island. Players can even use the Photo mode in the game to capture the heartwarming moments between Jin and his animal friends. It’s a safe bet that fans will be spending a lot of time petting these animals whenever Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut releases in August.
