Jin Sakai, the honorable protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, completely fails his flute solo in a hilarious fan-made video edit. Sucker Punch Productions’ PlayStation-exclusive action title, taking place in the year 1274 on the Japanese island of Tsushima, translates the feeling of an old samurai film into an exceptional open-world adventure. While the sword-clashing epic originally launched back in 2020, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut launched in 2021 and added a number of new areas and features.

Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima seeks to immerse players into the ancient yet familiar world of Feudal Japan. Protagonist Jin Sakai is an honorable samurai warrior, and he quickly becomes the last samurai on Tsushima after a deadly attack by the Mongol empire. Traversing the massive island allows players to engage in a variety of activities including sword duels, discovering sacred shrines and aiding the island’s survivors. Many small immersive actions, such as bowing to allies or cleaning the blood from Jin’s sword, help to create a believable simulation of the samurai lifestyle. Ghost of Tsushima even includes a flute which Jin can play at any time, helping to pass the time or perhaps attract the attention of nearby foes.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A video by Reddit user C_Bubs_ takes Jin Sakai’s peaceful flute and warps it into a hilarious meme. The video is noticeably strange right from the start, as it begins with Jin standing high atop a mountain wearing nothing but a loincloth. The honorable samurai pulls out his flute, but he does not play any of the authentic tunes featured in Ghost of Tsushima. Instead Jin plays a very lackluster rendition of “My Heart Will Go On,” an iconic Celine Dion song featured in 1997’s Titanic. The audio comes from a YouTube video by Matt Mulholland dating back to 2009, which features the creator delivering a hilariously terrible rendition of the Celine Dion hit.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut was recently released, bringing many improvements and features little more than a year after the game’s original launch. The new version of the title is optimized for the PlayStation 5, allowing for the inclusion of features such as 4K resolution, full Japanese language lip syncing and DualSense controller features like haptic feedback and adaptive features. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut also features a large piece of brand-new content which sees Jin Sakai visit a new location called Iki Island. The Iki Island expansion adds new mechanics, such as new enemy types and an enemy lock-on system, as well as a new storyline that explores Jin’s backstory and character.

Ghost of Tsushima is among the most successful PlayStation-exclusive titles of the last few years. The game’s emotional story, immersive world design, and exciting gameplay all combine to form a truly beloved open-world experience. While C_Bubs_’s video edit certainly pokes fun at the game’s flute mechanic, it also serves as a demonstration of the samurai epic’s immersive qualities. While Jin is unfortunately restricted to just his underwear, the video also shows off the beautiful and lifelike landscape of Tsushima.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is available on PS4 and PS5.
