Viewers have seen Rory Gilmore in a few different bedrooms throughout her time on Gilmore Girls. From her childhood bedroom to her bedroom at Richard and Emily’s to her time at Yale, Rory has slept in some cozy spaces over the years that have inspired fans to redo their own rooms.

Over at Lorelai’s house, viewers still question why Rory’s bedroom was attached to the kitchen on the first floor (was Lorelai’s bedroom really the only bedroom upstairs in that big house?) but they love looking for Easter eggs throughout Rory’s various room makeovers.

10 Why Are There Two Fireplaces In Rory’s Dorm?

Not only did Rory have a fireplace in the common space of her door room but she had a fireplace in her bedroom at Yale as well! This perk is highly unusual and confusing for current college students but it’s what adds a touch of class to her dreary dorm.

As much as Rory didn’t want to room with Paris during her first year at Yale, sleeping by a roaring fire on those cold Connecticut nights doesn’t seem too bad. Fans can totally picture Rory sitting by the fire while pulling late nights studying too.

9 The Many Women Of Rory’s Admiration

As Rory matured and moved around, small pieces of her personality began popping up around her bedrooms. In this case, various posters of historic women popped up on Rory’s walls.

Above is a photo of English novelist, Charlotte Bronte. Growing up in the 1800s, Charlotte was instrumental as a woman in literature because she used pseudonyms to be taken more seriously. Under the name Currer Bell, Charlotte published the iconic novel, Jane Eyre. For Rory, as a hopeful woman in journalism, looking at Charlotte’s face every day probably gave her strength.

8 Not Many People Hang Photos Of Writers On Their Dorm Walls

Dave Eggers is a writer and publisher who is most known for his memoir A Heartbreaking Work of a Staggering Genius. And it looks like Rory was a huge fan of his work because she bought a poster of him for her dorm room’s common room. Between her and Paris’ differing interests, Eggers must have been the only male face they agreed on.

In later episodes of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, Rory and Jess have a brief conversation about Eggers’ work. Jess even said he’d be happy if Eggers knew he existed if he ever came across Jess’ book.

7 Paul Frank Pajamas

Both Lorelai and Rory are homebodies who love spending their time watching old movies and eating take-out food. To match their love of being at home, both women have incredible loungewear. While sometimes the ladies are in your basic sweats with a scarf thrown in, other times they’re in adorable matching pajamas.

In the first season, Rory rolled out of bed wearing light blue Paul Frank thermal pajamas. She made everyone else want the same pair of pajamas to parade around in their own bedroom. Funny enough, Lorelai is also seen wearing the same exact pajama top. Leave it to this mom/daughter duo to steal pajamas as much as they steal each other’s clothes!

6 Yale Vs. Harvard

Before Rory became close with her grandparents, she had her eyes set on attending Harvard. Harvard was always her end goal and everyone in Stars Hollow knew it. Right next to her bed was a bulletin board that was covered in Harvard memorabilia and facts. But as time got closer, Rory had a tough decision to make.

She was accepted into both prestigious universities and had to choose one. She decided to attend Yale because of the short commute home, the historic background, and because her grandfather went there. After she chose Yale, her Harvard bulletin transformed into a Yale bulletin.

5 Algebra I?

Before A Year in the Life hit Netflix, fans were searching through the promos for any Easter eggs or hints they could find. In one view, Rory moved back in with her mom and was going through her things in her old bedroom. On her table was an algebra one book, which sent viewers down a rabbit hole.

Why was Rory keeping her algebra 1 book? At this point, Rory was a Yale graduate and didn’t need a book as simple as algebra one. It made fans wonder if April moved into Rory’s old room and the book was hers… There never ended up being a discussion about the algebra book, so it’s safe to say it’s an old book of Rory’s that she’s not ready to part with yet.

4 “It’s Fuzzy. It Purrs.”

Lorelai has a love for unique clocks. Fans learned this fact after she overslept and made Rory late for her first day at Chilton. After Lorelai dropped Rory off at school, she went straight to Luke’s for the world’s biggest coffee. “My clothes were at the cleaners, and I had the fuzzy clock and it didn’t purr on time,” Lorelai told Luke.

When Luke questioned why her clock would purr, she told him “It’s fuzzy. It purrs.” In later episodes, there were a few camera shots that showed a similar clock in Rory’s bedroom, proving that she is just like her mother.

3 A Compromise

In the episode “Emily in Wonderland,” Emily is distraught when she sees the shed where Lorelai raised Rory when they first moved out from the Gilmore home. To make herself feel better (and to give Rory a bedroom she thought she deserved), Emily turned Lorelai’s former childhood bedroom into Rory’s bedroom if she ever stayed over. Emily essentially gave Rory everything she didn’t have while growing up but the gesture confused Rory more than anything.

Rory loved her childhood and didn’t think she missed out on anything. Emily tried making a compromise with decor and kept it tasteful with hints of teenagehood sprinkled throughout (i.e. 98 Degrees and Justin Timberlake).

2  A Feminist In A Playboy Bunny Suit

To the average eye, it’s odd that Rory would have a Playboy bunny cocktail waitress on her wall. But when fans dug into the meaning of the poster, they realized the woman pictured was no average bunny; she was a feminist. Gloria Steinem is one of the biggest names in feminism and journalism, which is right up Rory’s alley.

According to Biography, Steinem wanted to see what it was like to be a coveted Playboy bunny for the Playboy Club in New York City. As a journalist on the down-low, Steinem took notes along the way to see how far these women went for the job (and how they were treated). This was only the start of Steinem’s journalistic career, and it’s easy to see why Rory admired her.

1 Rory & Poland

Rory has been across the pond a few times during her time on Gilmore Girls and the revival. She explored Europe the touristy way with her mom, she went again with her grandmother Emily, and in A Year in the Life Rory traveled to England often to be with Logan.

Along the way, it appears that Rory had her sights set on Poland. There are a ton of pictures and books on rotation in Rory’s many bedrooms but the one picture that seems to stay is a picture of Poland.
