Girls: 10 Ways Jessa Got Worse & Worse

Girls is intentionally written to center around a group of four young ladies with terrible personalities. Whether we are talking about Marnie, Hannah, or Shosh, all the characters are guilty of being selfish, privileged, and spoiled. Yet the worst of the bunch is Jessa who continually goes down as the series progresses.

She intentionally hurts people and stabs her best friends in the back more than once. With that being said, here are the instances throughout Girls when Jessa was simply the worst.

10 SHE DESTROYED A MARRIAGE

Jessa has always been the type of person who has actively searched for chaos. She loves the thrill of causing trouble and she always tries to test her boundaries with others to see just how far she can go while attempting to get away with her actions. In season one, Jessa sabotages her boss’s marriage when she flirts with him and starts hanging out with her boss despite the fact that he’s a married man.

Jessa finally starts to get a glimpse of the consequences her actions have when his wife tells her that she messed up their marriage and that she can’t just come into people’s lives with the intention of destroying everything.

9 SHE MOOCHED OFF OF SHOSH

Shoshanna has always been nothing but kind to her cousin Jessa, and she often spent the better half of the first season praising the bohemian beauty for her hipster mentality. Yet despite kindly letting Jessa mooch off her, Jessa refused to chip in or get a stable job in order to help out.

Despite Shosh being younger than Jessa, she seemed to have her life together more so than her cousin. At the very least, Jessa could’ve been thankful, but she couldn’t even do that.

8 JESSA MARRIED A MAN SHE JUST MET JUST FOR THE FUN OF IT

Everyone was shocked when Jessa decided to marry Thomas-John, a man she just met. At first, she was cruel towards him and they didn’t get along at all, but then she decided to up and marry him in some sort of attempt to get her life together.

She pretty much used him in order to (once again) mooch off of someone. Things ended up in smoke when Jessa sabotaged the relationship by acting totally crude around his parents.

7 SHE REFUSED TO TAKE REHAB SERIOUSLY

Around season 3, it became more and more evident that Jessa desperately needed to clean up her act. She was abusing drugs constantly and drinking the day away.

We were relieved to find out that she was finally seeking help for her irresponsible life choices, yet she screwed it all up in a typical Jessa fashion by refusing to take her time at rehab seriously. They even went so far as to kick her out because she was such a nuisance.

6 JESSA CLAIMED SEXUAL HARASSMENT WAS “HOT”

In season one, Hannah complained to Jessa about her boss who would grope her while at her internship. One would think that Jessa would drop her whole bad-girl act for a brief moment in order to console her best friend.

But instead, she told Hannah to relax about the whole situation and insisted that sexual harassment at the workplace was hot. Clearly, Jessa is the worst.

5 SHE NEVER REALIZED THE EXTENT OF HER PRIVILEGE

Jessa likes to disguise her privilege as bohemian, but really, her character has so much to learn about the world around her. She has no interest in getting a real job despite the fact that she lives in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Not wanting to have a job doesn’t make her a bad person, but if she’s going to go on without a career path, she should try to at least pretend to be thankful for the people she lives off of.

4 JESSA CONVINCED ADAM TO DATE MIMI-ROSE HOWARD

Jessa knew that she had to put Adam and Hannah’s relationship to bed and that the best way to do that was to get Adam in a relationship with someone else as quickly as possible.

She knew he needed a rebound, and she assumed Mimi-Rose would be the perfect person to fit the job. Jessa completely disregarded Hannah’s feelings even though it crushed her to learn that Adam was dating someone else.

3 SHE STARTED DATING ADAM

Jessa had a plan to sabotage Hannah’s relationship with Adam, and this wouldn’t be the first time she’s destroyed a romance, now is it? Yet the fact that she did it with her best friend really says something about her personality as a whole.

Adam was Hannah’s first love, and they were in a serious relationship together. They even lived together, yet this didn’t stop Jessa from ruining her life-long friendship with Hannah for good. What kind of person stabs their best friend in the back like that and refuses to apologize?

2 SHE SABOTAGED HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HANNAH

One would think that if you started a new romance with your best friends ex, you’d at least be extremely apologetic towards your lifelong friend. But instead, Jessa decided to take the opposite route by being a terrible person towards Hannah.

Jessa was unusually cruel with her, especially during the scene at the frozen yogurt shop when she continuously insulted Hannah. Not cool, Jessa!

1 SHE REFUSED TO CARE ABOUT ADAM’S SISTER GOING MISSING

Adam was met with terror when he discovered his sister had up and left her family and was nowhere to be found. She claimed she was suicidal in the note, and that she was dealing with issues of postpartum depression.

Adam was understandably flooded with concern about his sister, yet Jessa was acting completely irresponsibly during this whole situation and she wanted to have all the attention. If that doesn’t scream juvenile, we honestly don’t know what does
