It’s been a few years since Glee ended but some of the characters are impossible to forget. One of them is William Michael Schuester, the teacher and director of the glee club at William McKinley High School. Will was not only interesting from a professional perspective but also from a personal perspective as his relationships had much drama surrounding them.

Even though the character wasn’t well-received at first like that of Emma, viewers and critics slowly grew fond of him. For his performance as Will, Morrison received a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy” back in 2010. Here are a couple of things viewers also didn’t know about Will.

10 Instruments He Plays

Several musical instruments are bound to be used in a musical but it’s never really possible for any character to master all of them. But as the founder of the New Directions, singing isn’t the only thing he is good at.

Will plays the guitar quite well. He has also been seen playing the ukulele as well as he does the guitar. In Season 3, he played a piano too, though not as well as the other two instruments. Will once asked Rory to hold a trumpet correctly too, so it can be assumed that he familiar with how to play it.

9 Number Of Accolades

Will is quite a competent teacher and instructor and as a result, he has managed to win several awards throughout his fictional career on Glee. The trophies that can be seen on the show add up to ten.

There is the first place music award for the years 1992, 2009, 2010, and 2011 in the Sectionals. There is also the first place award for the years 1993 and 2012 in the Regionals. Then there is the first place award for the years 1993 and 2012 in the Nationals. Finally, he holds the “Teacher of the Year” trophy for 2008 and 2012.

8 He Got Slushied

Will is the only adult in the show to ever get slushied (getting a cup of “Big Quench” thrown at you). In Season 3’s seventh episode titled “I Kissed a Girl.” Principal Higgins stated that slushying is not an act of bullying, so the practice continues.

Several younger characters in the show have been slushied. The only exceptions are April, Jesse, Brittany, Joe, Lauren, Kitty, Matt, Ryder, Rory, and Sugar. Will was slushied in the eighth episode of Season One tiled “Mash-Up.” The first and last person to be slushied on the show was Rachel.

7 His Favorite Song

Bust A Move by Young MC is Will’s favorite song. The song was also featured in the Season One episode titled “Mash-Up.” When Puck and Finn refused to sing it, Rachel complained about the absence of male participants in the rehearsal.

Will thus decided to step up and sing it. He was backup up by the New Direction Girls in a performance that turned out to be one of the show’s best. He also mentioned that it’s his favorite song.

6 A Cookie Is A Must

Given all the moving parts in a popular show like Glee, viewers might be forgiven for not noticing little details like what a character eats. Well, Will has a rather interesting meal plan that is doesn’t really adhere to any recommended dietary practices.

No matter what he is having, Will always eats a cookie with his lunch. Will will eat a cookie with turkey and a cookie with rice.

5 His Address

Will’s current residential address is 20 Apple Blossom Lane Lima, Ohio 45802. This is where he currently lives with his wife Emma and children.

His former address is 14751 Edgewood Drive, Apt. 203 Lima, Ohio 45805. This is where he resided with his ex-wife Terri. Though their marriage was already crumbling, Will only made the decision to leave Terri after she lied about being pregnant.

4 His Birthday

Will’s Birthday is February 14th. He was born in 1976, which makes him 44 at the moment and 40 at the time the show ended back in 2015. He is three years older than his wife Emma who was born in 1979.

There have been a couple of birthday celebrations on Glee. Strangely enough, Will never celebrates his birthday on the show but his age is mentioned in Season 4’s ninth episode titled “Swan Song.”

3 Romances

Will has been involved with a number of women on the show. His current love is his wife Emma Schuester. Then there is his ex-wife Terri Del Monico who he had a nasty breakup with. He also kissed Shelby, the former coach of The Troubletones and Vocal Adrenaline, though there was nothing much between them after that.

Will also slept with his college crush April Rhodes when she appeared in Season 1’s first episode titled “The Rhodes Not Taken.” And even though he seduced his frenemy Sue Sylvester, nothing serious came out of it. Not to forget his ex-girlfriend Holly Holliday who worked as a substitute teacher at William McKinley High School and taught a variety of subjects such as Sex-Ed and French.

2 Number Of Jobs He Has Held

Will’s resume looks quite good. In the show, he has served as a Spanish Teacher and Spanish Teacher, as well as an Evening Janitor. He was also the founder and director of the New Directions.

Will was also part of the Blue Ribbon Panel for Arts Education Committee. He served as the director for Vocal Adrenaline too and as the New Directions alumni consultant. His biggest job was him serving as the William McKinley High School principal. He held this job until the end of the series.

1 His Favorite Movie

In the seventh episode of Season 2 titled “The Substitute,” Will was reinstated by Sue and went on to suggest a group performance of Singin’ In The Rain from the 1952 musical romantic comedy film of the same name. He asked Holly for ideas on how to modernize it and the two thus decided to mash it up with Rihanna’s Umbrella.

While speaking to Holly, Will mentioned that Singin’ In The Rain was his favorite movie of all time. The Oscar-nominated film which revolves around Hollywood in the ’20s is widely considered the greatest musical ever made. It is thus easy to see why Will loves it so much.
