A weightlifter recently channeled the power of Kratos by working out in full God Of War cosplay, and the resulting video has already gone viral. The Ghost of Sparta has always been a popular character to cosplay as, with WWE Superstar Tommaso Ciampa recently showing off a Kratos-inspired costume while defending his NXT Championship at October’s NXT Halloween Havoc event. Propmakers have also recreated Kratos’s Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos, making cosplay easier than ever.

Given that he single-handedly brought down the gods of Mount Olympus in the original God Of War trilogy and has faced off against some of the most fearsome beasts of Nordic mythology during his long-awaited return in God Of War (2018), Kratos’s reputation for strength and power speaks for itself. Throughout four mainline God Of War titles and numerous handheld spin-offs, Kratos has lifted massive stone pillars, climbed atop the back of the Titan Gaia, and has battled foes over a thousand times his size without breaking a sweat. Kratos also has the muscular physique to match his divine power, and has bulked up even further in the upcoming God Of War: Ragnarök.

As spotted by Game Rant, bodybuilder and fitness YouTuber Bradley Martyn recently worked out while dressed as God Of War’s Kratos. In a video posted to r/GodofWar by Reddit user the_onion_k_nigget, Martyn lifts nearly 675 pounds while clad in Kratos’s signature body paint, catching the eye of several onlookers and bending the bar of the barbell he’s using. Another shot shows him resting in the bathroom with a replica of Kratos’s trusty Leviathan Axe at his side. So far, the_onion_k_nigget’s post has gained over 1.6k likes in the span of a few days, meaning that the internet is as impressed with Martyn’s cosplay as the people watching him in the gym. As mentioned, Kratos is set to return in God Of War: Ragnarök which is due to release sometime later this year and will see Kratos and his son Atreus work to uncover the mystery behind an ancient prophecy foretelling the end of the world. While an exact release date for God Of War: Ragnarök hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, a recent video game rating classification from Saudi Arabia suggests that the game could come out sooner than expected.

Kratos will have plenty of chances to flex his muscles in God Of War: Ragnarok, given that the sequel will see him face off against powerful enemies like Thor – as well as possibly lifting his legendary hammer Mjölnir. In the meantime, fans like Bradley Martyn continue to channel God Of War’s ferocious anti-hero to pull off their own impressive feats of strength.
