During Kratos and Atreus’s journey in God of War, players will encounter several dragons, and by freeing these ancient beasts, Kratos will earn Dragon Tears, powerful ingredients used in crafting and upgrades. To release a dragon, players must locate and demolish three shrines connected to the device restraining the dragon from escaping. Keep in mind that once the player reaches these unique locations in God of War, they may encounter enemies guarding the area.

The first dragon, Otr, is imprisoned in Veithurgard. After arriving at the Lake of Nine, players must unlock a giant gate by freeing a wheel mechanism at Stone Falls. Kratos can use Atreus’s lightning arrows to get the machinery turning. Once players make it to the ruins of Veithurgard by boat, they can make their way to where the dragon is confined. It is recommended to approach the area with caution, as Otr will angrily spew explosive fire and lighting near the entrance to his prison. After getting through the initial site, Kratos will need to explore the ruins, fight several enemy mobs, and destroy three shrines to free the dragon.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Fafnir is the next dragon trapped in the Council of the Valkyries. Rowing the boat, head to the docking area located to the west of Alfeim Tower. While exploring this area in God of War, Players can recognize where they can get off by keeping an eye out for a small climbable ledge obstructed with red crystallized rubble. Break apart the rock with Atreus’s lighting arrows and continue onward up the path to a door. Upon opening the door, players will encounter the next dragon. To free Fafnir, players must search the site, destroying any of the three shrines that come across their path. Fafnir isn’t too pleased about his imprisonment and will continuously blow fire near Kratos. During these moments, use the nearby cover to hide and wait out his fury. Once all the shrines have been destroyed, players can liberate Fafnir and receive their Dragon Tear.

Where to Find Dragon Tears in God of War

The third brother of the captured dragons is Reginn, a beast locked within the location of Konunsgard. To access this dragon side character in God of War, Kratos will need to have obtained the Favor, “Hail to the King” from Sindri and Brok. After traversing through several caverns, players will arrive at a locked door. Head down the path on the right until reaching Reginn. Destroy the totems holding down the dragon to acquire a third Dragon Tear.
