The epic crossover between God of War Ragnarokand Rick and Mortyis continuing in a clever mod that replaces Kratos and Atreus with the titular grandfather-grandson duo of Adult Swim’s popular madcap animated series. The hit God of War reboot was ported to PC this January, which naturally led to a host of hilarious mods that combined Kratos’ Nordic adventures with characters from other franchises. Thanks to creative modders, Kratos has stood face-to-face with Thomas The Tank Engine and battled against Halo’s Master Chief, while both he and his son Atreus have been reskinned as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas’s Carl “CJ” Johnson, Barney The Dinosaur, and even Homer and Bart Simpson as they journey across the Nine Realms of Asgard.

Another hilarious God of War crossover recently came in the form of a Rick and Morty ad for God of War Ragnarök, in which Rick shaves his head and drags a hapless Morty on a dangerous quest to retrieve Kratos’ legendary Leviathan Axe from a flock of angry crows in the Nine Realms. This isn’t the first time that Rick and Morty have crossed over into the world of gaming, with the pair once journeying through the ruined world of 2019’s Death Stranding and awkwardly promoting the PlayStation 5 when it launched back in 2020 – on top of their guest appearances in Fortnite and Multiversus. However, it seems that Rick and Morty’s recent Sony-related collaboration has inspired one fan to flesh out their perilous journey through the world of God of War in a new mod.

Earlier this week, a God of War modder and YouTuber by the handle of Omega Fantasy posted a trailer for their latest God of War (2018) mod that reskins Kratos and Atreus as Rick and Morty – namely the bald Rick and bow-wielding Morty that appeared in the recent Rick and Morty/God of War Ragnarok commercial. As epic music and lines from the ad play in the background, Rick can be seen chopping trees with his newly acquired God Of War Leviathan Axe, brutally taking down monsters with a cry of “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” finding a boat (that Morty has to row), and even battling God of War’s version of Baldur in a grueling midair battle with Morty in tow. The end of the trailer promises that more footage of Omega Fantasy’s God of War/Rick and Morty crossover mod in action will be posted on ToastedShoes’ YouTube channel in the coming week.

Rick And Morty’s God Of War Adventure Becomes A Mod

As mentioned before, the recent crossover between God of War and Rick and Morty was done to promote God of War Ragnarok, which will finally launch on PlayStation systems this November after nearly a year of hype and speculation. Anxious fans have spent the long wait for God of War Ragnarok creating clever replicas that combine Kratos’ Leviathan Axe and Blades of Chaos into a single devastating weapon and custom-designed God Of War Ragnarok PS5 consoles, among other inspired works.

In the meantime, the crossover that began with yet another clever Rick and Mortyadvertisement has seemingly taken on a life of its own as a new mod ahead of God of War Ragnarok‘s release later this year. Kratos and Atreus are already very similar to Rick and Morty in several interesting ways, and now this connection is even stronger as the grandfather/grandson team of Adult Swim fame make their own fan-made journey across the Nine Realms in search of legendary axes and ordinary canoes to carry them in.
