Mother-daughter duo Karen E. Laine and Mina Starsiak Hawk are the masterminds behind renovating homes on Good Bones, but there are plenty of key team members who assist in their neighborhood rejuvenation process, including Austin Aynes. Although Austin isn’t one of Karen and Mina’s many blood relatives who tend to take charge of the family’s business, Two Chicks and a Hammer, he has proven himself to be integral to the construction process. From his role on Good Bones to his life outside of reality TV, here’s everything there is to know about Austin.

Like Mina and Karen, Austin is an Indianapolis native. According to Austin’s biography on Reason To Dance, a charity dance competition he took part in, Austin grew up in Speedway, Indiana. Although Austin lived in Speedway, he attended Cardinal Ritter High School. At Cardinal Ritter, Austin played varsity football until he graduated in 2013. After high school, Austin kept it local and went to Butler University in Indianapolis. At Butler, Austin studied biology and earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Austin wanted to go to physical therapy school after college, but wrote, “Sadly, [that] remained a dream.”

Austin’s journey to joining the Two Chicks and a Hammer team started after he returned home from college and wanted money, fast. Instead of continuing to pursue his dream of attending physical therapy school, Austin started working in demolition. Austin shared that in high school he had done some demolition work with a friend from his football team. Austin recalled that his friend said “his sister’s company was having a pilot for a TV show filmed,” and they wanted Austin to participate in it. Austin wrote that he started filming on Good Bones season 1 just as his physical therapy school applications weren’t resulting in any acceptances. Although Austin attempted to get another job for a couple of years after starting with Karen and Mina’s company, he ultimately returned to Two Chicks and a Hammer, where he now sees himself staying “for the foreseeable future.”

Austin remains a regular on Good Bones season 6, where he works as Mina’s construction coordinator. Fans have grown to love Austin’s fun and kind spirit while breaking down and rebuilding homes with the Two Chicks and a Hammer crew. When he’s not busy demolishing, Austin can be found on Instagram, where he goes by @track_suit_papi. On social media, Austin has garnered over 6,800 followers, with whom he has shared 155 posts. Austin’s Instagram posts convey the construction coordinator’s wide range of interests, from attending sports games to promoting Two Chicks and a Hammer’s beer. In December 2020, Austin shared his work on Good Bones has allowed him to purchase his first home in his hometown of Speedway, Indiana. Austin occasionally posts updates of renovations he has made to his home when he’s not preoccupied fixing up homes with Mina.

Although Austin isn’t the star of Good Bones like home renovation mastermind Mina, he is a fan-favorite team member that has become a vital part of the reality show. While Austin might’ve initially dreamt of pursuing physical therapy, he seems to be right where he should be working as Two Chicks and a Hammer’s construction coordinator. Austin has also demonstrated himself to be a tried and true Hoosier, as he has dedicated his entire life to bettering Indianapolis. Austin is sure to continue growing his fanbase on Good Bones.

Good Bones airs Tuesdays at 9 PM ET on HGTV.
