Mina Starsiak from Good Bones is a mother, and it’s time to share information about her children. Fans of the show know how confusing the mother-daughter duo’s family tree is. This is because it seems like almost everyone working for Good Bones celeb Mina and her mother Karen Laine is related to them in some way. Mina family’s is complicated but fascinating.

Back in 2017, a year after the premiere of the show, Mina and Karen made a Good Bones family tree video for HGTV, to help fans understand their complicated family. The clip included a diagram, but some fans found the video a little confusing. As the family continues to grow, fans are finding it even harder to keep track of exactly how everyone is related.

Regarding Mina’s family, she and her husband Stephen Hawk have two young children together. Their son Jack recently turned three and celebrated his birthday with a party and a dinosaur cake, which Mina shared pictures of on her Instagram. The couple’s second child Charlotte will be turning one in the near future. She was described by Mina as her Good Bones“miracle baby” after she and Stephen struggled with infertility. Mina underwent rounds of IVF before finding out that she was expecting. Before the birth of her children, Mina had been considering adoption. She mulled over adopting after she fostered her niece Julie for nine months in 2017. However, she and Steve are no longer considering adoption, as they are content with a family of four.

While Mina’s own family fits the traditional mold, her immediate family is different. She is one of three children that her parents (Karen Laine and Casey Starsiak) had before divorcing when Mina was three. They later remarried but divorced again years later. Mina’s parents then went on to remarry and have more children. One of them was Mina’s stepbrother, Tad Starsiak, who is the most recognizable Good Bones stepsibling. He is the son of Mina’s father and his second wife, Cheryl Starsiak. The pair had a couple of children, Tad and Jess, before deciding to end their marriage. Interestingly enough, Tad isn’t the only member of Mina’s family from her father’s side who works with her. Lenny Murrell, the longtime contractor for Two Chicks and a Hammer, was previously married to Cheryl before they got divorced and later remarried. Lenny and Cheryl were together until Cheryl sadly passed away.

Mina’s mom Karen became a stand-in stepmom for Tad. After her divorce from Mina’s father, Karen married Randy. with whom she had Kelsy Spaeth, who is Good Bones star Mina’s stepsister. Kelsy has occasionally appeared on the show. She’s acted as Chief Business Officer for Two Chicks since Karen retired from the company in 2019. Kelsy is the youngest and the only child from Karen and Randy’s marriage. Karen has remarried twice since her second marriage ended, and while her third marriage didn’t last very long, her fourth marriage to Mina’s stepfather Roger has stood the test of time. Roger appeared briefly on the show and was one reason why Karen retired from the company.

Mina’s upbringing opened her eyes to all types of unconventional families, providing her with a level of understanding that she wouldn’t have had growing up in a “typical” family. The Good Bones star was so inspired by her experiences growing up with a nontraditional family that she published a book, Built Together, earlier this year. It honors different types of families.
