Karen E. Laine Steps Back From Good Bones

In an interview with The List, Mina Starsiak-Hawk from Good Bones, which has had many memorable moments, stated that the biggest change for Good Bones season 6 is Karen E. Laine’s partial retirement. Hawk and Laine co-founded their business Two Chicks and a Hammer in 2007. They’ve been partners ever since, but Laine has made the decision to retire from the business to travel more and spend time with her husband.

Laine won’t be completely cut out of the series as she’s still very much a presence in the new season. She’s even shown sporting a new look. However, she won’t be as involved with the home renovation projects. It’ll be up to Hawk to keep the business going and make the big decisions.

The Two Chicks And A Hammer Team Get More Screentime

Because Laine will be stepping back, the Two Chicks and a Hammer team will have bigger roles on the show, like Mina’s half-brother Tad Starsiak. Cory Miller and MJ Coyle will step into the spotlight more in season 6, as they handle the design and construction aspect of Good Bones. Hawk will rely on them to help her with home rehabs, renovations, and builds.

There Will Be A New Addition To The Hawk Family

Good Bones season 5 ended with Mina very much pregnant with baby daughter Charlie. At the start of Good Bones season 6, her bun will still be in the oven. However, before the season ends, baby Charlie will likely make her debut. Mina gave birth to Charlotte “Charlie” Drew Hawk in September 2020.

Good Bones Season 6 Filmed During The Pandemic

Unlike many shows, Good Bones didn’t shut down production due to COVID-19. The Two Chicks and a Hammer team had to stay hard at work rehabilitating homes, as former waitress Mina states, “Okay, how can you quarantine in your home if your home’s not done?”

Mina also emphasized that her team was very careful and had COVID tests multiple times per week. Though Mina also mentioned that getting sick wasn’t a big worry of hers, she made sure to follow every precaution to keep everyone healthy. She kept Good Bones going and make sure that the Two Chicks and a Hammer enterprise thrived.

Good Bones season 6 airs every Tuesday on HGTV at 8:00 pm EST and on Discovery+ the same day.
