In the NBC crime drama Good Girls, Beth, Ruby, and Annie seem like normal suburban moms on the surface but they are notorious lawbreakers, forced into the world of crime by unexpected circumstances. Given the money and lives at stake, the trio, their associates, and their enemies are often made to think on their feet at all times.

The poor decisions made by some of the main characters have had serious consequences, ranging from death to loss of jobs to personal injury. The blunders have also inconvenienced plenty of other parties that had nothing to do with the events taking place. Nevertheless, the mistakes are part of what makes the plot so intriguing.

10 Annie Doesn’t Cover Her Tattoo During The First Robbery

Annie might be one of the most likable characters in Good Girls but she sure does make critical mistakes. In the pilot episode, the ladies decide to rob the Fine & Frugal store where Annie works. Each of them wears appropriate disguises but Annie forgets to cover her tattoo. This causes her boss, Boomer, to recognize her.

Thanks to Annie’s mistake, Boomer becomes a constant nuisance for the ladies. Among the most disgusting things he does is demanding sexual favors from Annie so that he won’t go to the police. Unfortunately, he has nine lives too. Every time the trio thinks they have gotten rid of him, he keeps coming back.

9 Agent Turner Tries To Turn Rio Into An Informant

Rio once kidnaps Agent Turner and offers Beth a chance to shoot him but Beth shoots him instead. When Beth leaves, Turner, instead of finishing Rio off, offers to call 911 and save his life if he becomes an informant. Rio agrees but he later turns on Turner and kills him.

Turner’s penchant for looking at the bigger picture and playing the long game ends up being his undoing. An intelligent FBI agent like him ought to have known better than to trust Rio, a hard-boiled gangster who would never flip.

8 Ruby Comes Clean To Stan

After hiding her secret life from her husband Stan for a while, Ruby decides to finally come clean. Though angry at first, Stan chooses to be supportive but this makes him lose his job.

By coming clean to Stan, Ruby makes him an accomplice. Since he loves her so much, he is ever too willing to help her and cover up for her. He pays by getting suspended from work, but even then, he doesn’t seem to care much, or at least he pretends he doesn’t. Stan’s suspension causes a very big rift in a couple that was once the envy of many.

7 Beth Doesn’t Kill Rio

Beth is one of the smartest characters in Good Girls hence she rarely exhibits poor judgment. However, the biggest mistake she makes throughout the series is not killing Rio. Worse still, she develops feelings for him.

The gangster enjoys tormenting the trio and while Beth comes to enjoy it after a while, her friend and sister aren’t too comfortable. Throughout the show, Beth has plenty of opportunities to kill Ben but she chooses not to. This is surprising, considering the fact that she not only has no qualms about killing him but she also keeps craving for the peaceful life she had before him.

6 Dean Takes Several Mortgages Without Informing Beth

All the chaos on the show can be traced back to Dean’s actions. In the pilot, it’s revealed that he has been cheating on Beth and taken out several mortgages. Keen not to lose everything, Beth chooses to rob the store with her sister and best friend. It’s a bad move since the store is being used by Rio’s gang to launder money.

Even though Annie and Ruby have their financial woes too, there’s hardly a doubt that the robbery wouldn’t have happened if Beth wasn’t in on it since she’s always been the leader. And she’s only in on it because of the mess Dean has put her family in. For the rest of the show, Dean truly suffers and pays for his sins but he’s too comical to draw any sympathy.

5 Stan Agrees To Help Ruby Raise Bail Money For Dean

When Dean gets arrested, Ruby asks for Stan’s help in raising the bail money. Stan agrees to help but this causes his boss at the strip club to suspect him of stealing. His boss thus blackmails him, making him do crimes for him so that he won’t go to the police.

Fans can’t help but sympathize with Stan when he finds himself in a state where he is his boss’ puppet. He has always been a good guy who is disgusted by the idea of committing crimes. Logically, he has no business agreeing to help Dean since it wasn’t his problem. The resourceful Beth would have still found the money needed for Dean’s bail.

4 Rio Kills Lucy

In one of the most surprising moments in Good Girls, Rio kills Lucy, who was helping Beth, Annie, and Ruby design counterfeit money. He figures she won’t be as productive as the trio but Rio’s decision makes little sense.

With Lucy, he could have had a talented and cooperative partner. By killing Lucy, Rio complicates his criminal life since he is forced to continue dealing with the stubborn trio that’s always trying to find a way out. Beth even hires an assassin to kill Rio right after he kills Lucy.

3 Boomer Escapes From Prison

Boomer’s good-hearted grandmother forces him to turn himself in to the police to prevent Beth from taking the fall for a crime she didn’t commit. He gets gang tattoos to protect himself on the inside, then turns himself in. However, he later escapes, making himself clash with the ladies once again.

Boomer is safer in prison than he is on the outside. Beth, Annie, and Ruby don’t like him hence they’ll always do everything to put him down. And by escaping, Boomer makes himself a fugitive. Most importantly, he has no one to turn to, since he finds out that his grandmother who he deeply adored is dead.

2 Mary Pat Blackmails The Trio

Mary Pat blackmails Beth, Ruby, and Annie for $10,000 after realizing that the single shopper initiative she was hired to participate in is a scam. And after they give it to her, she gets greedy and demands the same amount every month.

Pat’s threats make her a target for not only the trio but Rio as well. This way, one of her secrets gets exposed. She hid her husband’s dead body so that his disability checks could continue coming. Her cash flow is thus cut, something she could have avoided if she had chosen to not interfere with Beth, Annie, and Ruby.

1 Noah Falls In Love With Annie

FBI agent Noah is tasked with getting close to Annie so he goes undercover as the new Assistant Manager at Fine & Frugal. He seduces Annie but falls in love with her, thus complicating his mission. His feelings lead to Annie discovering who he is and as a result, he is transferred to Arizona.

Since Annie has already sunk deep into the world of crime and Noah is a promising FBI agent, there is no way a relationship between them can ever work. Noah is aware of this yet he still chooses to pursue Annie. It’s baffling because he was probably chosen to go undercover because he was good at his job. The mistake gets him taken out of the biggest case in his life and as a result, his future in the bureau looks bleak.
