Google smart displays now offer a plethora of new puzzle and word games in their ever-expanding gaming library. Users can expect a more robust gaming experience with storytelling and virtual pets now also available. Google updated its smart display lineup with a handful of noteworthy features back in October.

Google’s Nest Hubs have gradually had features and functionalities added that make them more of a real smart home asset than just fancy-looking conversation pieces. Users can now turn to their Google smart displays as an all-in-one smart home command center, schedule organizer, meeting planner, and productivity enhancer. Of course, Google has also equipped these smart displays with a healthy range of entertainment options, from streaming services to an already diverse catalog of games.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a blog post, Google revealed that it’s ramping up its entertainment options even further for the holiday season with an assortment of new titles, including memory enhancers like Brainwash Puzzle and Daily Brain Trainer. For aspiring writers and wordsmiths, there are new fantasy-themed adventure games available, such as Voice Quest and Power Of Words. Aside from more traditional games, there will also be more interactive and personalized experiences such as virtual pets game My Smart Pet and aquarium simulator Hey Fish, with a new Hello Kitty virtual companion game due soon too.

More Google Smart Display Content

Google has also introduced new ways to engage parents and their children, including the ability to tell stories from popular kids cartoon shows like Shimmer and Shine. Alternatively, users can simply say “Hey Google, tell me a bedtime story” to instantly get a slew of stories to choose from. Asking Google to “Talk to ABCMouse,” meanwhile, lets parents access a wealth of edutainment content for children. Given how many of the new games put a lot of emphasis on giving a more immersive audio and video experience, perhaps owners with older Google smart displays should consider upgrading their devices to a more superior version.

However, there are still new titles that can be enjoyed regardless of what smart display they’re being played on. Games like Horizontal Crosswords, Game Of Words, and Zynga’s Daily Word Wheel are great pick-up-and-play titles that don’t necessarily require better speakers or a bigger display. Google also made improvements to its Games lobby, so users can find and play games easily with a single tap, or by simply saying “Hey Google, play a game.” With all of the recent updates Google’s smart display has been receiving, it could make a perfect gift this holiday season. That is, as long as Google doesn’t discontinue it like it did its speakers.
