Gorogoa is an indie puzzle game in which players must help a young boy in a red shirt collect five fruits as he progresses through a crumbling world with a mysterious, powerful monster lurking in its panels. Gorogoa is beautifully drawn and features a two-by-two grid of images in each chapter that players must manipulate in order to move between areas and solve the puzzles within. Each image, however, has multiple layers that require players to think outside the box and get creative to put the pieces of these abstract puzzles together, all the while uncovering the story of the young boy and his world.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Chapter 5 of Gorogoa begins immediately after players claim the blue fruit in Chapter 4. They can zoom out from the panel of the man climbing the stairs and return to the room where the man with the yellow shirt is sitting at his window. He’ll push over the table with the ritual items, causing them to shatter, before he begins imagining the red-shirt boy falling again. Zooming out from the panel with the castle wall will reveal that the blue plate from Chapter 4 has also shattered. Players should zoom out one more time to reveal an old man pondering the shattered plate while waiting at a train station. From here, they can zoom out to reveal the entire station and zoom back into the white doorway to the left of the old man. Using Gorogoa’s innovative gameplay, they can then layer this panel over the panel with the red-shirt boy to bring him to the train station.

Players should out from the panel with the book until they reach the image of an old man sitting at the table. In the panel with the yellow-shirt man, they can pan right and zoom in on the calendar hanging on the wall. Zooming out from the old man again reveals him sitting in the window. Players can then zoom in on the image of the ring on the calendar and overlay this panel on top of the image of the old man to create a coin.

At the train station, players should zoom in on the sign to the right and select the image of the tower with the purple fruit symbol. They must remove the top layer of this panel and zoom back out of both images. The panel with the tower will reveal a red bench, and the red-shirt boy will be gone from the panel with the signs. The train will return, as will the red-shirt boy with his bowl. Players should zoom in on the fare collector on the back of the train and overlay the panel with the coin in order to pay the train fare, allowing the red-shirt boy to board.

How To Solve Chapter 5 Of Gorogoa

A piece of paper will fall from the sign on the left side of this panel in Chapter 5 of Gorogoa, allowing players to zoom into the train map behind it. A train will appear on the tracks of the map and begin making its way to the first stop. In the panel with the bench, players must pan to the left twice and zoom in on the arch in the back. The train track on this arch will align with the train map once players zoom in on both and place the train map panel below the arch panel to complete the track. This will allow the train to leave the loop and continue on to the next section of the map. Players can then return to the red bench in the train station and wait. When the train reaches the end of the track on the map, it’ll appear in the station and drop the red-shirt boy off, and he’ll make his way to the left side of the panel.

On the train map, players should zoom in on the image of two hands just below where the green and red sections of the track meet. One hand is holding a pair of scissors, and the other is holding a needle and thread. From the train station bench, players will find the other section of thread by panning left. They must align the two panels so the thread connects, then pan left again to find the red-shirt boy. He’ll move to the right, so players must follow him to see him think about a walled city. They should remove this layer to reveal a panel with a quilt underneath and zoom out.

Next, players can select the image of the pointing hand and layer the thought bubble frame panel over top of it to change the boy’s thoughts, then zoom out again. He’ll travel to the right where the hands are and think about some scissors. At this point, players can zoom in on the tiny door below the ivy-covered arch and swap the two panels so the red-shirt boy is on the right.

From here, players should zoom in on the boy’s thought bubble and remove the top layer, then zoom out and select the image of the pointing hand in the book in the bottom-left corner. Players need to replace the thought bubble frame once more to change the boy’s thoughts again and make him move to the right where he’ll enter the small door. They can zoom out from the small door to return to the ivy-covered arch and zoom into the circular window in the center. Next to the wooden door with the purple fruit symbol on it, players can zoom in on the red-shirt boy by the red ladder in the lower-right corner.

Then, players should zoom out from the panel with the scissors and thread to return to the train map. They’ll need to select the other set of hands holding a ruler and pendulum near where the red and yellow tracks meet. The boy will think of planets in revolution, and players can zoom in and remove the top layer of this panel to reveal a bedroom wall covered in papers and drawings. They should move this panel to the top left corner of the screen and zoom in on the drawing of the woman pointing at the stars to place the red-shirt boy’s thought bubble frame over top of it. Zooming out will change the boy’s thoughts again, causing him to start climbing the ladder.

Once the boy is out of frame, players can move the train map to the panel beneath the ladder and pan up to find the boy, who will climb back down onto the newly-extended ladder. Players can zoom out from the red ladder to return to the garden area, then zoom into the yellow ladder on the right side of the panel and swap the panels, allowing the boy to continue climbing down until he reaches the ground. He’ll walk off to the left side of the panel, at which point bells will begin to ring in the background. Zooming out from the ladder will reveal the wooden door with the purple fruit symbol has been opened, and players can pan up to find the boy in the tower above. Once players zoom in on him, he’ll be able to pick the purple fruit from the plant growing in the vase on the railing, completing his collection of all five fruits in Gorogoa.

Gorogoa is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
